New Pro-Nazi Paper
Condemns Israel Action

VIENNA, (JTA)-A new pro-
Nazi paper, taking its name,
"Der Angriff," from the daily

Paul Josef Goebbels, Hitler's
propaganda chief, has made its
appearance here.
The paper describes itself as
"the fighting paper of the work-
ers." Its first issue carried a
violent attack on the state of
Israel because the Israeli par-
liament had adopted a resolu-
tion opposing the rearmament
of Germany.

Charge N.Y. School Texts
Libel Jews and Others

NEW Y 0 R K, (AJP) - Such
terms as "heebs," "dago" and
"nigger" are still found in many
textbooks used by New York
City public school children and
appear on the "1951 List of Ap-
proved Text Books" issued by
the Board of Education, the
Teachers' Union charged.
One text, Abiaham Lederman,
president of the Union declared,
"Treasure Chest of Literature,"
contains a justification of the
vicious Ku Klux Klan. He said
the book was restored to the
"Approved" list for - 1951 after
having been dropped in •1950.
In a letter • to Superintendent
Jansen, Lederman urged imme-
diate action in remedying the
situation.

ATLANTA, (AJP) - A Jewish
refugee student and his family
lost all their earthly belongings
in a trailer fire here last week,
but within hours friends they
had never known existed offered
a helping hand. This week the
Heinz, Bauer s were settling
themselves in a new trailer
happy again.

'Chewing Gum Tree':
Entertaining Story

"The Chewing Gum Tree" by
Ruth Bishop Juline (published
by Lothrop, Lee & Shepard, 419 .
4th Ave., N. Y. 16) is both en-
tertaining and instructive. Al-
-
lowed
to accompany their fa-
ther into the jungle, Carlos and
Carmita learn about the chicle
industry in Mexico and the ways
of their father's earning a liv-
ing.
How the chicle is derived from
trees and how it is transformed
into chewing gum, and the ad-
ventures in the jungle cc•bine
to make this a most interesting
story for the young reader of 10
to 12. Beautifully illustrated by
Harl.yn Dickinson, this book has
great merit.
