PLANNED NEW BNAI MOSHE BUILDING--
Congregation Bnai Moshe an-
nounces that it has formulated
plans for the immediate erec-
tion of a religious school build-
ing to complement the syna-
gogue facilities on Dexter and
Lawrence.
Handicapped by lack of school
facilities, the synagogue's deter-
mination to launch a drive for
funds for the new building
among its members was sparked
by a recent gift made by Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Grosberg.
An added incentive came in
the form of an agreement
with the United Hebrew
Schools to conduct the daily
classes for children, except on
Sundays when the Bnai Moshe
Sunday School will occupy the
quarters. This is in line with
the recently adopted policy of
the United Hebrew Schools to
join with congregations in a
more intensive campaign to
promote its educational pro-
gram to an ever-widening cir-
cle of Jewish youth.
The school building will con-
tain nine well-lighted, amply
ventilated rooms, some of which
may also be available for cul-
tural and social meetings. It
also will provide administrative,
United Hebrew Schools and
Sunday School offices, a bOard
room, Rabbi's study and lounge
room for parents while their
children are being taught.
The size of the building will
be 64 ft. by 100 ft.; it will be
set back approximately 20 ft.
from the Dexter lot line. The
front will be all stone, its motif
SYNAGOGUE
to harmonize with the Temple
style of the Synagogue. Con-
struction will be fireproof, heat-
ed by gas and amply ventilated;
floors of asphalt tile on rubber
base over concrete slab.
T h e building contract has
been awarded to Lerner & Lin,
den. Construction is expected to
begin in the spring under the
supervision of Alexander Koh-
ner, the architect who designed
the structure.
Ground breaking ceremonies
will be announced soon.

for American Jewry's philanthropic support of Israel is the
UNITED JEWISH APPEAL. Its primacy in this field has been endorsed by the over-
whelming majority of Jewish communities throughout the United States and the organi-
rations through which they operate.
This primacy is based upon the tremendous scope of the activities which are carried
on in Israel through United Jewish Appeal funds. These funds are the backbone of the
Jewish State's huge immigration, colonization and absorption program. UJA dollars
financed the transportation and settlement in Israel of every one of the 600,000 immigrants
who've come to her shores since the establishment of the State in May, 1948.
UJA dollars must continue to finance the immigration and absorption of the 600,000
additional immigrants who are expected to arrive in Israel during the next three years.

HE MAIN CHANNEL
In addition to the United Jewish Appeal, certain other authorized organizations with
established traditions of constructive work in Israel can legitimately lay claim to public
oupport in the United States and elsewhere.
But occasionally individuals and organizations launch new campaigns in behalf of
Israel, enterprises of special and limited character. These enterprises are not always con-
structive and the claims put forward in their behalf are not always warranted by the facts.
The Authorization of Drives
As a direct result of demands by the organized Jewish communities of the United States,
and with the support and sympathy of the Government of Israel, the Jewish Agency
for Palestine set up one year ago a COMMITTEE ON CONTROL AND AUTHORIZATION
OF CAMPAIGNS. The function of the COMMITTEE is to scrutinize all proposed campaigns
in behalf of Israel with a view to establishing the validity of their claims and their general
usefulness.
When In Doubt
The COMMITTEE will shortly announce what campaigns for Israel, in addition to the
United Jewish Appeal, will be authorized for 1951. In the meantime you are urged when
asked for contributions by any organization other than the United Jewish Appeal to
examine carefully the claims put forward by the canvassing group. If you are in doubt,
write to the JEWISH AGENCY FOR PALESTINE, Committee On Control And Authori-
zation Of Campaigns, 16 East 66th Street, New York 21, N. Y.
THE JEWISH AGENCY FOR PALESTINE hopes that the American Jewish public will
support the United Jewish Appeal in 1951 with unprecedented vigor and generosity.
The need has never been greater.
