NEW SHINING STAR on the
local entertainment circuit is
cute Sherry Kay (S la a a r on
Katz) . . . only 13 years old but
already a veteran in show busi-
ness . . . Her song-styling with
Dick Stein's band is pleasing to
the critical ear . . . as she ren-
ders forth with vibrant tones
from the light classic and pop-
ular tunes of the day • .. Sherry
has appeared on a TV show with
Jim DeLand and was only
five years old when she made
her singing debut, eight years
ago, at an affair given by Per-
fection Lodge ... Keep your eye
on this young girl . . . She's a
sure bet to climb many rungs
on the ladder of success ... and
has
lot of time to do it in.

ASKED HOW HE LIKED his
new baby sister, little Sheldon
Gafke replied, "It's nice, but I
wish it was a boy, 'cause then
I could play marbles, baseball
and other games with her." • .
His little question-asking friend
said, "Well, then why don't you
exchange her for a brother?"
... "Can't," was Sheldon's an-
swer. "It's to late now. We've
used her four days."

WE'VE ALWAYS marveled at
the quick changeover that TV
stations make when they have
to introduce a local commercial
into a national program .. but
the first foul-up we heard of
was told to us, last week, by
Harry Yudkoff . . He was
watching a program on a na-
tional hook-up . . . and at the
break for the commercial, the
local announcer went into his
routine about a Detroit beer .. .
but throughout the screen
flashed a bulletin . . . about a
month-end sale at Gimbels• in
New York.
