Montor Announces New Corporation
Sponsoring Israel Government Loan

Initial plans for the flotation
of an Israel bond issue in the
United States, as part of a com-
prehensive three-year plan of
economic development of the
Jewish State, involving a total
of $1,500,000,000, were revealed
with the announcement of the
formation of a new organization
to be known as the American
Financial and Development Cor-
poration for Israel.
Henry Montor, who resigned
as director of the United.Jewish
Appeal which raised in the 12
years under his leadership more
than $720,000,000 for aid to
Israel and to Jews in other parts
of the world, has been named
the chief executive officer of the
new organization . to direct and
-manage the sale of Israel bonds
in this country. The American
Financial and Development Cor-
poration for Israel will have its
national headquarters at 2 Park
Ave. in New York City.

For Detroit Concert

tra, which will appear at the
Masonic Temple on Feb. 4, con-
ducted by Dr. S e r g e Kous-
sevitzky, will be the Andante
and Scherzo from the "David"
Symphony by Menahem' Avi-
dom, famous young Israel corn-
poser, followed by the Symphony
No. 5 by Prokofieff and Tschai-
kowsky's Symphony No. 4.

' Kvutzah Women to Sponsor Youth
Library in United Hebrew Schools

A Youth Library to meet the
requirements of the pupils in all
branches and departments of the
United Hebrew Schools, includ-
ing the elementary, high school
and Midrasha classes, will be
established by the Ladies' Auxil-
iary of Kvutzah Ivrith, Mrs. Ju-

The decision of the Kvutzah

meeting of committees from the
women's group and the Hebrew
Schools. Mrs. Ring headed a

Morris Lieberman, chairman
of the campaign, reported that
intensified work during the last
two weeks raised the campaign,
total to $78,253, over one-third
of the amount collected last
year. Farband branches 137,•
557 and 114 and Labor Zionist
Branches 4 and 6 lead in so-
licitations so far.
Special teams were formed by
Pioneer Women's clubs and
women members of Labor Zion-
ist Branches, who, at a meet-
ing last week honoring Dr. May
Bere, pledged themselves to
double the amounts they raised
last year. Chana Michlin heads
the Women's Division of the
Histadrut Campaign.
