ing a few weeks in Miami Beach where they are guests at the San

Mrs. Louis Rosenthal of the Belcrest has left for New York
where she will visit her daughter, Marjory, for a short time.
Mrs. Alex Cohen of Coral Gables spent the week in the city
Visiting with members of her family and friends.
Mrs. James Buhai and her small son have returned to their
home in Highland Park, Ill., after a week's visit with her parents,
Mr. and Mrrs. John L. Brown of Strathcona Dr.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Rosenhaus of Chicago Blvd. left on Mon-
day for a few weeks stay in Miami Beach, Fla.
Mrs. David 'Fauman of Boston Blvd. has returned from Tor-•
(mato where she visited with her son-in-law and daughter.
Mr. and Mrs. Jules Klein of Calvert Ave. have as their guests
their daughter, Mrs. Milton Escher and her daughter, Peggy, of
New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Becker of Strathcona Dr. have returned
from a visit in Miami Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Barney Greenberg of Los Angeles, Calif., visited
for a week in Detroit with friends enroute to the east where they
will visit members of their family.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Herz of Calvert Ave. have as their guests
her brother-in-law and sister, Prof. and Mrs. Michael Merz of
Munich, Germany.
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Immerman and their son, Larry, have
returned from a stay in Miami Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Freshman and their son, Richard, of Hunt-
ington Woods are spending six weeks in Coral Gables, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hoffman have returned from a fort-
night's visit in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Phillips of Calvert Ave. are expected home
shortly from a stay in Miami Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Sigmund Hubner of Los Angeles are making an
extended stay in this city with members of their family and
friends. ,They are the house guests of their daughter, Mrs. Helen
Newman of Cherrylawn Ave,
Mrs. Samuel M. Lein of Broadstreet Blvd. has returned from
Washington where she visited her daughter, Judith, and son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs: Joseph Levin.
Mrs. Myra Jacobowitz has returned to her home in Buffalo
after a visit with her children, the Theodore Jacobowitz's of
Strathcona Dr.
Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Michel of Boston Blvd. returned on
Wednesday from a few weeks' visit in Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rice of Longfellow Ave. have returned
from a few days' visit in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Burton LeVine of Marlowe Ave. have as t1 it

Nordau, ZOD, Starts Drive,
Toys for Israel Children

The Nordau Chapter, ZOD, is
inaugurating a "toys for Israel's
school children" campaign
among its members and friends
at a Hanukah party to be given
Saturday at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Max Chomsky, 4084 w.
Buena Vista. Admission to the
party is a toy for the start of
the campaign.

The Saginaw Zionist District
has invited the Jewish commun-
ity of Saginaw and its suburbs
to attend it Hanukah meeting
Sunday everiirig, Dec. 10, at the
Bnai Israel Temple.
Dr. Harry A. Cohen, rabbi of
the congregation, will introduce
Morris M. Jacobs, president of
the Michigan Zionist Region,
who will show his color films
taken in Israel, and will discuss
the significance of the recent
municipal elections in Israel.

Joffe Talks to Bnai Brith
On Democracy's Defense

"Democracy's Self-D e f ens e"
was the topic of Boris N. Joffe,
executive director of the Jewish
Community Council at the 4th
seminar of the Detroit Bnai
Brith Women's chapters to be
held Thursday. T h e seminars
are sponsored jointly by the
Michigan Regional Office of the
Anti-Defamation League of
Bnai Brith and the Jewish Com-
munity Council.

Losing only one bout in eight
Sunday, Byron Krieger retain-
ed his title of Michigan's best
all-around fencer. The three
weapon swordsman is the pres-
ent Michigan and Midwest
champion. He has held the
championship since 1938.
