Temple Beth El Lists
Its Hanukah Activities

A Pre-Hanukah family Sab-
bath Eve service will be held at
Temple Beth El at 8:15 on Fri-
day. Dr. B. Benedict Glazer will
preach on "The Unfinished Fight
of the Maccabees—a Challenge
to Their Descendants." Liturgi-
cal and Hanukah music will be
rendered by the Temple quar-
tette, under - the direction of
Jason H. Tickton, and the junior
and senior high school choirs,
under the direction of Mrs.
Jason H. Tickton. A Social Hour,
under the auspices of the Sister-
hood, will follow the service.
The annual Hanukah family
supper will be held at 6 p.m.,
Sunday, in the Franklin Me-
morial Hall.
The children of the Religious
School will present Hanukah
plays at parties in their class-
rooms on Saturday, and Sunday.
The Sisterhood gift shop has a
wide variety of Hanukah items
for sale.

Ear Ilan Hamizrachi
Has Hanukah Meeting

The Bar-Ilan Chapter: of the
Hapoel Hamizrachi will conduct
an open meeting Dec. 10, at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Emil
Wolok, 3223 Hadelwood. A Ha-
nukah program is planned.
Talks will be given by Mr.
rand Mrs. David Sklash, recently
returned from a 14-month stay
in Israel.
At a meeting. Nov. 12 the fol-

Bnai David Aims at New
League Basketball Title

Bnai David, chanipion

opened the 1950-51 -campaign
with a 37-8 victory over North-
west Cong. at Central High
School. Gene Lamberg con-
tributed 11 points. -

Will Not Perform

Cantor Sidney Gottlieb, who
) was to have conducted the Sala-
bath morning service at the
Jewish Home for the Aged on
December 9, will not appear at
that time because of a pre-
scheduled speaker was arranged
for the congregation.

Walter Farber, director of
Bnai Moshe Religious School,
will speak to the Adult School
of the synagogue Tuesday eve-
ning, in the social hall..
" 'The Wall' and the' Biblical
Novel," which is the subject of
Farber's lecture, was selected
for Jewish Book Month by the
Adult School of Jewish Studies
of the Synagogue. A display of
Jewish books and articles as well
as a special Hanukah corner will
be displayed.
Farber will be assisted in the
readings of the novels by Miss
Bette Weinberg of WJLB's
American Jewish Hour.
The Junior C o n g r e g a tion
(ages 7,12) will install officers
at 11 a.m., Dec. 2, in the syna-
gogue.
Clifford Miller, president, will
be introduced by Farber, direc-
tor of the service, and will speak
briefly. Rabbi Lehvman will ad-
dress the youngsters immediate-
ly following the installation ex-
ercises.

Dr. Louis Finkelstein, presi-
dent of the Jewish Theological
Seminary of America, announces
that Prof. Martin Buber of the
Hebrew University, Jerusalem,
Israel, scholar, religious mystic,
and foremost modern exponent
of Hasidism, will deliver the
1951-52 series of Israel Gold-
stein lectures at the Seminary.
