will be held at 4:45 p.m., Friday; at 9 a.m., Saturday. Rabbi
Benjamin H. Gorrelick will preach on "Self Respect, Our Great-
est Need." Stewart Silverman will celebrate his Bar Mitzvah.

Late Friday evening service will be held at 8:30 p.m., at which
the sermon will be "Thanksgiving in the Atomic Age."

More than 300 men and wom-
en have enrolled in the twenty-
week series of Tuesday evening
adult study courses offered by
Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
The series, initiated Nov. 21,
offers courses in Hebrew on ele-
mentary, intermediate and ad-
vanced levels; Yiddish litera-
ture; Bible; Jewish history and
literature.
Rabbi Morris Adler' conducts
a survey course entitled "Back-
grounds for the American Jew,"
which will present an outline of
the literature on Jewish sub-
jects that can help the Ameri-
can Jew enlarge his understand-
ing of his faith.
Guest lecturers at the series
will include Dr. Max Hoffman
who will talk on "The Romance
of Jewish Music" Dec. 12; Rab-
bis Emanuel Rackman, Edward
T. Sandrow and David M. Eic-
horn who will take part in a
symposium on "Tomorrow's Ju-
daism" Jan 9, 1951; and Maurice
Samuel speaking on "Jewry in
the World of Tomorrow," March
13.
The classes are open to the
public. Registration can be made
every day through the school
office or Tuesday evenings be-
fore class sessions.

Beth Aaron Sponsors
Hanukah Workshop

A Hanukah workshop for par-
ents will be held by the Beth
Aaron religious school on Sun-
day morning at the McDowell
School. Rabbi Benjamin Gor-
relick will tell parents how
Judaism can be made pleasant
for children. Mrs. Betty Nut-
kiewicz, Shaarey Zedek arts and
crafts teacher, will demonstrate
how to make Hanukah symbols.
Bernard Panush, director of the
school, will preside.
A joint parents and teachers
celebration will be held at 10
a.m. Dec. 10 in the synogague,
where a special play will be
offered by the children, under
the direction of Mrs. Sidney
Weinberg, dramatic instructor.
The Sisterhood will distribute
dreidels and Hanukah food to
the children. Max Schneider
donated candles and Menorahs
for each child.

Jewish Leaders Pay
Tribute to Rabbi Silver

An audience including many
Rabbis and Jewish leaders from
Detroit and out of town is ex-
pected at the Yeshivath Chach-
mey Lublin Testimonial Dinner,
which will be given at 5:30 p.m.,
Sunday at the Yeshivah, Lin-.
wood at Elmhurst.
The dinner is in honor of Rab-
bi El Silver "for his life long ef-
forts in behalf of Jewry and
Judaism." Rabbi Silver is a
member of the Presidum of the
Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the .
United States and Canada. Ad-
mission may be paid at the door.

one of the nation's outstanding
Negro orators, will be the guest
speaker at the inter-faith night
of the Northwest Hebrew Cong.
