MAJOR HULLABALLOO in
Young Adult Council concerns
a community group that per-
sistently refuses to cooperate
with the Council in clearing
dates before holding an affairs
. This stubborn foolishness
has resulted in more than one
equal-type affair being given on
the same night ... which, when
you get right down to it, is
just plain ridiculous ... We can-
not understand why the group
in question refuses to cooperate
.. It is just as much to their
benefit since good attendance is
the goal of all concerned . . .
and can be properly assured
when clearance is in control.

his love for good home-cooked

had been married 14 years and
her hamburgers were his fav-

evening . . although Gertie
insisted that she hadn't
changed a thing in making
them . . . Last week, the mys-
tery was solved . ... By mistake,
she served them dog food ham-
burgers originally made for
their pet boxer, Rudy, and given
him those she had prepared for
supper . . "Rudy must have
also noticed the change,' she
told Myron in a letter . . . He
didn't eat his meal, . either!"

CLEVELAND (JTA)—Admiral
Stanton W. Salisbury, chairman
of the Armed Forces Chaplains
Board, addressing the opening
session of the 41st 'biennial as-
sembly of the Union of American
Hebrew Congregations, called on
leaders of Reform Judaism to
"relinquish your rabbis for (mili-
tary) duty, with the satisfying
knowledge that they will bring
your home environment and
Jewish spiritual guidance to your
children in the armed forces."
Dr. Ma uric e N. Eisendrath,
president of UAHC, offered a
four-point program to encourage
the procurement of chaplains: 1.
Extension of leaves of absence;
2. Provision of salary differen-
tials; 3. Assurance that pulpits
will be returned to the rabbis
upon their return from military
service; 4. Freezing of pulpits
so that if vacancies occur during
their absence, the men in the
Chaplaincy will not be penalized,
but will have an equal opportu-
nity to be considered for those
vacancies.
The UAHC president also urg-
ed the convention delegates to
