Jewish Teacher
Wins DTA Award

Miss Mary Cohen, -of 2331 Elm-
hurst, was named teacher for
the month of November by the
Detroit Teachers' Association.
The letter nominating her for
the title was signed by 269 par-
ents of her school children.
In their letter, the parents
stated that many of Miss Cohen's
former pupils have brought their
children back to her because
they are confident they would
receive the same expert instruc-
tion.
Miss Cohen is a teacher at the
Lincoln School, at 561 Brady,
where she has spent her entire
teaching career as a kindergar-
ten instructor. She began her
own schooling as a child at the
Bishop School, only a few blocks
away from Lincoln.
Miss Cohen is a member of
Donald Fox, Bnai Brith Chap-
ter and belongs to the Business
and Professional Women's group
of Hadassah.

Four new films, a projector

the exodus of the Jews from
Yemen, their escape, their trek

by Meyer Levin. Sam Jaffe, of
Broadway and Hollywood, stars
in the film.
"Song of the Negev," also
known as "Ein Breira," dramati-
cally portrays a crucial front
during the recent war in Israel.
"Memorandum on a Victory" is
an unforgettable film story of
how a hand-full of Jews at Neg-
ba fought for their lives.
"The Middle East" illustrates
Jewish efforts to rebuild Israel
as a homeland for our people.

Charles Feinberg, prominent
art collector and connoisseur of
Jewish ceremonial art, will be
guest speaker at the Northwest
Hebrew Congregation's first
Oneg Shabbat, to be held at 2
p.m., Saturday, at the home of
Mrs. Jacob E. Segal, program
chairman, 19175 Woodingham.
Feinberg, who recently had an
exhibit in Toronto and loaned
his Sabbath art collection to the
theological Seminary of New
York, will bring his display of
ceremonial objects. An opening
prayer will be offered by Rose
Singer. Current events, by Mrs.
Sam Simmers and a closing
poem on Hanukah by Mrs. Na-
