tor Berkowitz, 30 year-old

NEW YORK—With funds running dangerously low for the
Joint Distribution Committee, Moses Leavitt, executive vice-chair-
man of JDC, reports a "terrible choice"—the, immigration of
75,000 Jews into Israel or the cutting of needy Jews from the relief
roles . . . The first national conference on Jewish education has
been postponed to avoid conflicting with the emergency National
Planning .conference scheduled in Washington next weekend.
ATLANTIC CITY—The Mizrachi women's Organization of
America, at their national convention here, announced the deci-
sion to raise $430,000 for the expansion and development of youth,
educational and welfare projects maintained in Israel.

JERUSALEM—Full diplomatic relations between Mexico and
Israel will be discussed at a meeting of the Israel foreign ministry
with Salvador Pardo-Bolland and Marco A. Almazan, attache with
the Mexican legation at Beirut, Lebanon ... A national conference
of the 34 Israel lodges of Bnai Brith was called to honor. its 107th
anniversary, and considered plans to absorb new immigrants and
continue aid to the immigration program.

LONDON—Twenty Jewish religious students from North Af-
rica arrived here for training at the Sunderland Talmudic College
where they will study to serve as Rabbis and teachers in various
Sephardic Jewish communities ... A London Times dispatch from
Amman quotes Jordanian Premier Said Pasha El Mufti as saying
there will be no peace with Israel unless there is a compensatory
settlement and return of former Arab communities.
VIENNA—Following a communication from Lt. Gen. Geoffrey
Keyes, American commander in Austria, Chancellor Leopold Figl
refused to propose an amendment to the national restitution law,
which would have compensated holders of property confiscated
by the Nazis.
