More than 13,000 members of
the Women's Division of the
Jewish Welfare Federation have
received invitations to attend

the Division's fifth annual
meeting Friday afternoon,. Sept.
29, at the Veteran's Memorial
Building, 151 Jefferson. The
"Stockholders' Report" meeting
will feature election of officers
and board members, collections
and amendments.
Mrs. Leonard H. Weiner has
been nominated for re-election
as president.
Nominated for vice-presidents
are Mrs. Hyman C. Broder, Mrs.
John C. Hopp, Mrs. Harry L.
Jones, and Mrs. Julian H. Kro-
lik.
Other nominees are: Mrs.
Philip Marcuse, recording se-
cording secretary; Mrs. Max
Frank, representative t o the
board of governors of the Jew-
ish Welfare Federation.
Mrs. Krolik will serve as
chairman of the Special Coin-
mission of five women who will
report to the membership on the
vast enterprises of the Women's
Division in Detroit, throughout
the nation and abroad.
The Commission also is corn-
prised of Mrs. Julius Chajes,
Ws. Samuel H. Rubiner and
Mks. Sanders.
As part of a nation-wide col-
lection drive, climaxing on Oct.
8, 'the Women's 'Division has set
Sept. 29 as a Collection Day. In
order that cash may be made
available immediately for the
"now or never" immigration to
Israel, booths will be set up at
the Veterans' Memorial Build-
ing so that women may make
row payments on their pledges at
the annual meeting.
Sixteen women have be en
nominated to fill vacancies on
the board which is comprised
of 48 elected members of the
Division, one-third of whom are
elected every year to serve a
three-year term.

Mrs. Samuel B. Danto was

Mrs. Hopp will present the
financial report of the Women's
Division.
Mrs. Maurice A. Landau was
chairman of the committee on

November 30 Rally
To Launch City's
'50 Histadrut Drive

Detroit's 1951 Israel Histadrut
Campaign will be launched at a
mass rally Thursday evening,
Nov. 30, at Northwestern Hebrew
Cong., Morris Lieberman, chair-
man, announced.
A prominent national speaker
and artists, to be announced at
a later date, will be featured.
Tentative plans and quotas for
the campaign were discussed at
the bruncheon reception held
last Sunday to welcome Chaim
Gottlieb and Harold Kempner
who will direct the campaign.
Gottlieb, recently arrived from
Israel, outlined the tasks facing
Histadrut in Israel in rehabili-
tating the multitudeS of immi-
grants and absorbing them into
the productive life of the coun-
try. He called on friends and

The first Yom Peula (Activity
Day) of the Midrasha was held-
at the Rose Sittig Cohen Build-
ing last Sunday. About 50 young
people participated in the ac-
tivities which included drama-
tics, arts and crafts, dancing,
choir and sports.
Short discussion periods be-
fore each activity supplied the
participants with the vocabu-
lary needed to carry out the
program in Hebrew.
Rena Silver, who is directing
the arts and crafts program,
recently returned from studies
in Israel.
Yam Peula began with an as-
sembly addressed by Albert Ela-
zar, director of the Midrasha,
who stressed the pioneer na-
ture of this activity. The pro-
visional student council of the
Midrasha urged Detroit% Jewish
youth of high school and uni-
versity age to register for var-
iety of classes. Registration will
continue until Oct. 9.
The groups of Yom Peula are
devoting the first few Sundays
to preparation of a program for
the opening convocation of the
Midrasha, Oct. 9, at the Rose
Sittig Cohen Bldg.

Center Social Club
Has Sukkoth Meeting

The Select Social Club of the
Jewish Community Center an-
nounces a Sukkoth Festival and
Open House to start its season,
Sept. 30, in the Ginsburg Lounge
of the Jewish Community Cen-
ter. There will be music, and
traditional Sukkoth delicacies
will be served.

Thirty-six athletes will leave
for Saturday competition in the
Maccabiah, which has drawn
contestants from 25 countries.
