World Zionist Congress
Postponed to May, 1951
Holidays Require
Special Deadlines
JERUSALEM, (JTA)—The Jewish Agency executive de-
cided to postpone the forthcoming World Zionist Congress
from Dec. 1, 1950, to the end of May, 1951.
Before that time, the executive decided a "Congress of
American Zionists" should be held in the United States and
some 2,000 to 3,000 American Zionist leaders should be in-
vited to it. The vote was seven to three.
The proposal to postpone the World Zionist Congress was
made by Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the Agency
executive in the United States, in behalf of all Zionist groups
in America. Dr. Goldmann stressed that the Zionist leaders
are unable to leave the U. S. when the United Jewish Appeal
starts.
S. Z. Shragai then suggested that a plenary meeting of
the Jewish Agency be held in New York, after which the
"Congress of American. Zionists" could be opened. The pur-
pose of this parley would be to discuss the future of Zionism
and lay plans for obtaining financial assistance for Israel.
The Agency members would remain in the United States for
a time to assist the UJA campaign.

Weizmann Issues Call for World
Peace in Rosh Hashanah Message
ZURICH, (JTA)—Israel Presi-
dent Dr. Chaim Weizmann, who
is recuperating in Switzerland,
issued a New Year's greetings to
the Jewish state, to the people
of Israel and to Jews -through-
out the world. Emphasizing that
this is the third Rosh Hash-
anah in the life of the inde-
pendent Jewish state, Dr. Weiz-
mann said:
"Mankind again is passing
through a perilous phase. The
fires of war are alight in the
Far East, and who knows
whether they will not spread.
From the bottom of OUT hearts
we pray the world may be
spared the horrors of a new
conflagration.
"Israel is keenly concerned
for the maintenance and
strengthening of world peace,
both as a member of the fam-
ily of nations and as a people
that has undertaken a task of
uncommon difficulty and ur-
gency. We are building a home
for a people that has not known
for many centuries what a home
and security are. We are laying
the foundations on which hun-
dreds of thousands of men and
women, uprooted and displaced,
are rebuilding their shattered
lives.
"Great advances have been
made in the year which now
comes to its close, but we have
only begun. May the New Year
see the progressive realization
of our planned effort of ma-
terial and special reconstruc-

tions. May many more of our
brethren come to join us in re-
building our state, our ancient
land. We pray for the peace of
the world. We pray in par-
ticular for the peace of the Mid-
dle East, of which our land is
an integral part. Today, as be-
fore, OUT hands stretched out to
our neighbors near and far.
Peace and prosperity here, as
elsewhere, are indivisible. With-
out mutual understanding and
effective cooperation, there can

plicant because of religion.
The complaint charged that
William Rosen answered the
agency's advertisement for a

he "was specifically informed
that the agency was looking for
a 'Spick-type of person.' "
Rosen speaks Spanish fluently
