U. S. Jews Hold Key to Future
Of 'Operation Magic Carpet
TEL AVIV—(JTA)--Plans for
complete "cradle-to-grave"
social insurance program to
cover the entire population of
Israel will be published here
shortly for "public debate and
comment." The plan is now un-
der discussion by the Israel
Cabinet and will soon be pre-
sented to Parliament.
The program will be intro-
duced in the following three
stages :
1. Free hospitalization for
those needing it, free dental
treatment for children, free
medical care for all employed
persons and for women over 60
and men over 65 living on pen-
sions. Also, grants for new
babies, grants for families on
the death of the breadwinner,
and insurance for agricultural
workers
2. The second stage—already
completed—provides nationwide
medical care covering the entire
population, and provides dis-
ability insurance for all citizens
as well as retraining of disabled
persons.

A planeload of Yemenite Jews are shown disembarking at
Lydda airport from JDC's "Operation Magic Carpet," which
has already brought 45,000 home to Israel. These new arrivals
are part of the 170,000 Jews of Europe, North Africa and the
Near East for whom the year 5710 was a year of deliverance.
But what of the year 5711? For tens of thousands whose future
depends upon immediate emigration, time is running out. They
are looking to the Jews of America for the help that will bring
them a home—a chance to live again.

vented by an American Chalutz
living in a settlement, who put
the idea at the disposal . of all
concerned. The mice (vales) can
be combatted from the air in
uninhabited areas in several
places along Israel's borders, but
the new spraying service un-
fortunately lost its first plane
and an American pilot in a
crash shortly after the opera-
tions started.

called to a conference in Buenos
Aires on Aug. 7 and 8 to formu-
late general views for the forth-
coming 23rd World Zionist Con-
gress in Jerusalem, it was re-
vealed by Dr. Israel Goldstein,
chairman of the World Confed-
eration of General Zionists.
Moshe Kol, head of the Youth
Aliyah Department of the Jew-
ish Agency in Jerusalem, will
participate in the conference
which also will deal with meas-
u r e s to strengthen General
Zionism in the various South
American countries.
