For German-Jewish Graves

Goren, Histadrut Leader, Visits
Detroit, Heartened by Response

Shraga Goren, prominent Is-
rael Histadrut leader, one of the
managers of the. famous Israel
Cooperatives, visited Detroit
early this 'week, before his re-
turn to Tel Aviv for Rosh Ha-
shanah. He was accompanied
here by his daughter, Michal.
Mr. Goren, who came to the
U. S. for a five-week visit to in-
terest American Jews in invest-
ments in important projects in
Israel, said he was confident
that the tempo of American in-
terest in the Jewish state will
continue and that "there will be
an increased desire on the part
of Jews to participate in Israel's
upbuilding as investors and as
contributors to funds to aid in
immigration settlement.
Referring to -his experiences
in several American cities, Mr.
Goren said that he and his as-
sociates interested a number of
people to invest in several lead-
ing industrial projects.
Miss Goren, a senior at Co-
lumbia University, New York,
who also is teaching Hebrew in
New York schools, expressed the
hope that the request of the Is-
rael _government for a billion
dollar loan will be fulfilled. "Im-

Classes at 3 Branches

Jewish Folk Schools of the La-
bor Zionist Organization and
Sholem Aleichem Institute were
resumed Wednesday. Registra-
tion of new pupils and those of
kindergarten age will continue
during the forthcoming week at

School No. 3, Mumford High

Courses offered include speak-
ing, reading and writing both
Hebrew and Yiddish, Bible, Jew-
ish history, traditions and cus-
toms, singing of Hebrew and
Yiddish songs, and a study of
the present life of the Jews
• everywhere, with special inter-
est in reconstructed Israel.
School classes are held from
4 to 7 p.m., Kindergarten classes
at School No. 1, from 9 to 12
a.m., at School No. 2, from 1 to
4 p.m., at School No. 3, from 4
to 5 p.m.

Beth Abraham's New

Beth Abraham will open the ses-.
sions of its new Sunday School
Sept. 10 at 10:15 a.m.
The synagogue's committee of
education, which consists of
delegates from every constitu-
ent organization, is headed by
Nathan J. Kaufman, who re-
ported 60 students enrolled.
Rabbi, Israel I. Halpern, di-
rector of the school, urged mem-
bers to invite their friends and
neighbors to enroll their chil-
dren in kindergarten through
grade eight in the Beth Abra-
ham school. The curriculum will
consist of Jewish history, cus-
toms and holidays, dramatics
and arts and crifts.
