UJA Script .Inspires
U. S. Pilot to Volunteer
For 'Operation Ezra'

The United Jewish Appeal
moves the hearts of many peo-
ple. Recently, UJA sponsored a
broadcast entitled "Operation
Ezra," dramatizing the airlift
bringing Jews from Iraq to Is-
rael. The central character was
an American aviator who pilot-
ed the first plane of the opera-
tion.
At first indifferent to the wel-
fare of his passengers, he fin-
ally became deeply interested in
the success of the rescue pro-
gram.
A few days after this broad-
cast, the UJA received a call
from a non-Jewish American.
He had been a pilot with the
Army Air forces, and called to
offer his services to the airlift.
"You are doing great job for
these people," he said, "I'd be
glad to do anaything I can to
help.'

Israel Histadrut---the Organization of Jewish Workers—embracing
more than 500,000 men , women and children — has successfully begun a
new era of converting the hundreds of thousands of Israel's new citizens
into productive workers.

Histadrut is productivizing the newcomers through vocational training
and industrial cooperatives; by providing medical care for 60 per cent of
Israel's citizens through the facilities of Kupat Cholim.

Histadrut's warriors are staunch defenders of the State on the agri-
cultural and industrial fronts—as farmers and workers—and as warriors
watching for Israel's security on hostile borders.

The Israel Histadrut Committee, composed of friends of Histadrut and
of representatives of more than 150 Detroit organizations, extends heart-
felt thanks to the many workers in the Histadrut Campaign, the proceeds
of which make it possible for Histadrut in Israel to carry on its construc-
tive, pioneering tasks for Medinat Israel.
