Allied High COMmission annul-
led two regulations passed in
the Bremen and Hesse provinces
because they discriminated be-
tween Nazi victims living in

abroad. The regulations pro-
vided that no compensation be
paid to Nazi victims as long as
they reside abroad.
(The New YOrk Times report-
ed that United States High
Commissioner John J. McCloy
has called the attention of An-
dre Francois-Poncet, French
High Commissioner, to a con-
firmed report that a stairway
constructed of headstone from
Jewish cemeteries was being
used at a children's school in
Coblenz in the French zone.

would lead to violent sentiments

AZA Youths Endorse
Korean Action, Elect
Texas Legal Student

LEBANON, Tenn., (JTA)—The
Aleph Zadek Aleph convention
endorsed President Truman's
and the United Nations efforts
in Korea, and pledged itself to
full support of the war effort

ervation of democratic tradi-
tions and the sacred hopes of
peoples all over the world for
freedom and security from fear."
Nineteen - year - old Ronnie
Weiss, a pre-law student at Rice
Institute in Houston, Tex., be-
came the national president.
Two other resolutions were
directed towards the 800 AZA
chapters. They recommended
that the chapters study thor-
oughly the universal military
training programs being ad-
vanced and that they come to
some conclusion on these and on
extending the franchise to 18-
year-olds, for future action by
the national organization.
The establishment of Israel,
the development of h u in a n
rights and the struggle for peace
are all part of " a process in
which individuals learn to live
together, Benjamin R. EpStein,
national director of the Bnai
Brith Anti-Defamation League,
told the AZA delegates.
Epstein commended the inter-
est of the organization in the
aspects of human freedom and
affirmed the necessity for youth
to lead the way toward better
human relations.

McGrath in Israel
To Aid Education

J. McGrath, U. S. Commissioner
of Education, Federal Security
Agency, left for Israel on an
official mission to assist the
Jewish state in the solution of
its educational problems.
Israel requested Secretary of
State Dean Acheson to send a
mission of American educators
to Israel under the leadership of
McGrath. This followed an in-
vitation by Israel President Dr.
Chaim Weizmann to Federal se-
curity Administrator Oscar R.
Ewing, when he visited Israel
last January.
McGrath will confer with
Israel Government officials, in-
cluding educational officials, on
arrangements for two months
of survey and assistance by oth-
er members of the mission, who
will go to Israel this fail after
schools are in session.

Children Desecrate
Montreal Synagogue

MONTREAL, (WJA)—A group
of youngsters threw stones at
the windows of one of the Mon-
treal synagogues during prayer
hours recently. Members of the
city's fire services, who stood by,
did not move to stop them. Af-
ter representations to the chief
of police, the Canadian Jewish
Congress has now been informed
that action has been taken to
prevent the repetitior of such
incidents.

Frankfort Nazi Youths
Tear Up German Flag

FRANKFURT — (WJA) — A
number of young Germans re-
moved the German flag from
an office building in Erlbach
and tore it to pieces while sing-
ing the Horst Wessel song, re-
ports the Frankfurt daily "Die
Neue Zeitung." Investigations
showed the youths had spent
the previous night in a restau-
rant drinking. The water, al-
though he had a quarrel with
them, maintained later that he
was not able to identify them.
