Detroit members and alumni
of Iota Alpha Pi. sorority are
completing arrangements for
the group's national convention,
to be held here Labor Day week-
end, Sept. 1 to 3.
This will be the first time
that Detroit has been the scene
of the national
meetings. Dele-
gates from 17
active chapters,
as well as lead-
ing alumni and
national of f
cers and board
members are
expected to at-
tend.
Miss Weinberg Mrs. Gerald
Goodman is convention chair-
man. Bette Weinberg, newly-
elected president of the Detroit
alumni group, is in charge of
the opening reception for the
delegates to take place Friday
evening, Sept. 1, at the Tuller
Hotel, headquarters for the ses-
sions.
`M-Day' Dues Drive
Planned . by Masada
Masada is continuing its
membership drive, planning for
"`M-Day", a special day to be
set aside on which the mem-
bership committee will collect
outstanding dues of old mem-
bers.
The first social houseparty of
the season took place at Lillian
Atkins' home. Similar parties
have been planned to acquaint
the young adults of Masada
with each other. Anyone in-
terested in participating in the
functions of the social commit-

Shaarey Zedek Youths
Plan Excursion 4ug. 20
The Young People's Society of
Shaarey Zedek will meet Sun-
day, Aug. 20, to visit Greenfield
Village. Those interested in at-
tending will meet at Shaarey
Zedek at 1 p.m. Transportation
will be furnished.

Lucow Heads Young
Adults' Community
Service Committee
Milton Lucow w a s elected
chairman of the community ser-
vice committee of the Young
Adult Council. He succeeds Al-
bert M. Colman, who continues
as a member of the board.
The Committee functions as
the Junior Service Group of the
Allied Jewish Campaign. It
raised $52,000 from 23,000 con-
tributors in 1950 — $3,000 more
than last year.
Elected with Lucow, who was
a division chairman in the 1950
campaign, are Avern Cohn, -vice-
chairman, and Shirley Simons,
secretary.
Six additional members of the
board are Jean Ann Cohen,
Rose Fine, Lillian Fischer, Mar-
vin Rollins, Milton Berry and
Irving Rosen.

Over one hundred and fifty

throughout the country will at-
tend the Fifth - Annual Hillel
Leadership Training Institute, it
was announced by Rabbi Arthur
J. Lelyveld, National Director of
Foundations. The Institute .ses-
signs will be held at Camp High
Point, near Shokan, New York
beginning Aug. 29 and continu-
ing through Sept. 6. The theme
of the InstitUte this year is
"Living as a Jew Today : An Ex-
ploration."
Among staff members of the
Institute who will deliver lec-
tures and lead student group
discussions will be ,Rabbi Max
Kapustin, director of the Hillel
Foundation at Wayne Univer-
sity.

Israeli Cafe, will have a gala
