spokesman for the Society for
Prevention of Cruelty to Ani-
mals said that his organiza-
tion would discuss with the
Jordanian legation in Wash -
ington a complaint received
here from Jerusalem that a
lion, a leopard and two eagles
in the Biblical Zoo on Mt.
Scopus - which is in Arab-
held territory -- are starving
for lack of meat.
The complaint, forwarded
by Aaron Shulov, director of
the Biblical Zoo, and Theo-
dore Meysels, chairman of
the ' Jerusalem SPCA, said
that for three weeks the Jor-
dan Arab Legion has pre-
vented the passage of meat
destined for the zoo. The
Biblical Zoo is said to contain
a collection of all animals
mentioned in the Bible.
