Hadassah Leader Calls

WASHINGTON, (JTA)-
Butter and cheese valued at
more than $2,000,000 have
been provided to Hadassah by
the U. S. Department of Ag-
riculture for relief feeding in
Israel.
A total of 2,200,000 pounds
of butter, valued at 60 cents
per p o u n d, and 2,200,000
pounds of American cheddar
cheese, valued at 40 cents per
pound, will be shipped this
month. The food -will be used
for relief feeding in refugee
camps, hospitals, Youth Ali-
yah institutions and immi-
grant reception camps.
A shipment of 4,000,000
pounds of skimmed milk and
400,000 pounds of powdered
eggs was made last May with
the cooperation of the U. S.
Government.

crest Hotel haVe returned from a three weeks' stay at Mackinac
Island, where they were guests at Grand Hotel.

turned from a several weeks' vacation at Frankfort and a trip
through northern Michigan.

Wheeling, W. Va., have been in Detroit as guests of the William
Franks of Wildemere Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Crohn, their daughter, Leah, and son,
Harris, left this week on a motor trip to Colorado.
Mr. and Mrs. Ruben. Manko of Calvert Ave. have returned
from Fleishman, N. Y., where they spent their vacation in the
Catskill Mountains.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Baruch and small son, .Joel, have returned
to their home in Madison, Wis., after a visit in Detroit with their
mother, Mrs. J. B. Baruch, and their brother, Theodore Baruch, of
W. Boston Blvd. •
Jay and Dick Hartman, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hartman -
of Chicago Blvd., are spending their vacation in Charlevoix, Mich.
Mr. and Mrs. Simon Diamond and daughter, Faye-Beth, have
moved into their new home at 19661 Stratford Road.
Mr. and Mrs.'Leon Kay of Wildemere Ave. are vacationing in
the Bahama Islands. Next week they will go on to Rumney, N. H.,
to visit their son, Barry, at' Camp Stinson, and will return -home
together the end of this month. •
Rebecca Ehrinpries of W. Buena Vista Ave. is spending some
time at the Lombardy Hotel, New York City.
Mrs. Abe Brasch, president of Music Study Club of Detroit,
entertained the program committee at brunch at her home on
Warrington Ave. on Aug. 1.
Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Stoneman of Wisconsin Ave. entertained
at a surprise garden party honoring the birthday of their daugh-
ter, Barbara, at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs.
A. D. Barnett.
Mr. and Mrs. David Radin of Birwood Ave., with their children,
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kass and Steven of Stopel Ave., are vacation-
ing at Linden Beach, Kingsville, Ont. Mrs. Jacob Koss of Roselawn
Ave. visited them over the weekend.

daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Man-
uel Neiman of Pennington Dr.,
became the bride of Albert H.
Schrut, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam
Schrut.
A white satin gown trimmed
with Belgian lace; Dutch cap of
lace and seed pearls holding• a
fingertip veil, and white- calla
lilies were the features of the
bride's wedding outfit. The
bridegroom's sister, Mrs. L.
Brooks, was matron-of-honor;
the bride's sister,- Dorothy Nei-
man, maid-of-honor; Mrs. Irv-
ing Rosenberg and Anita Nei-
man, bridesmaids; Marcia Ros-
enberg and Sandra Schrut,
junior bridesmaids, and' Sherryl
Lynn Rosenberg, flower girl.
Max Schrut attended his
brother • as best man; Irving
Rosenberg, uncle 4f the bride,
and Sanford Hoffman were
ushers, and Richard Brooks,
nephew of the bridegroom, ring-
bearer. •
Guests from Boston, Cali-
fornia and Chicago, as well as
the bride's uncle and aunt, Mr.
and Mrs. I. Blinder 'of London,
England, attended the wedding.
The young couple is honey
mooning in Denver, Colo.

"Establishment of final peace
between Israel and the Arab
states and arrival at a realistic
solution of the Jerusalem issue
through the machinery of the
United Nations" was called for
by Mrs. Theodore Bargman, be-
fore her departure for the 36th
annual convention of Hadassah,
to be held at the Waldorf As-
toria, New York, Aug. 20 to 23.
More than 1500 delewtes and
guests, said Mrs. Bargman, pres-_
ident of Detroit Hadassah, "will
go to the convention prepared
to assure a continuation and in
some cases an extension of Ha-
dassah's health, welfare, youth
rehabilitation, vocational educa-
tion and land redemption activ-
ities in Israel."

Attains World Fame

TEL AVIV, (JTA) — "Stavit,"
a 17-year-old cow in Kfar Gil-
adi, reached world fame after
it was revealed that she has
yielded 100,000 kilos of milk,
and now ranks among the 12
world champions of the United
States, U.S.S.R. and England.
Stavit is a cross between a
Dutch bull and Damaschee. The
new breed will henceforth be
called the "Israel" breed and
already numbers several speci-
mens here.
