luncheon at 12:30 p.m. will be
followed by a meeting featuring
a WXYZ, radio program. Details
are being arranged by Mrs.
Paul R. Freeman. The president,
Mrs. Emery Ehrenwald, will
conduct a brief business meet-
ing. An evening of games is
scheduled for Sept. 6 at Bnai
Moshe. Mrs. Abe Miller is hand-
ling arrangements.

evening will be Dr. Max Rosen-
feld, who recently returned from
an extensive tour of Israel and
Italy. Dr. Rosenfeld's record of
this trip in pictures will be
shown at this meeting.

Blackman. The auxiliary made
a hospital visit to Dearborn Hos-

U. S. Zionists Alloted
120 Seats for WZC

JERUSALEM, (JTA) — The
World Zionist Congress will take
place Dec. 20 in Jerusalem,
Eliahu Dobkin announced. He
said that elections to the Con-
gress had already been held in
a number of smaller countries.
Dobkin said Zionist parties in
the United States will not hold
elections but will receive 120
seats as follows: General Zion-
ists, 33; Hadassah, 33; Labor
Zionists, 25; M i z r a c h i, 12;
Hapoel Hamizrachi, '7; Hashom-
er Hatzair-Mapam, 3; and Re-
"visionists, 6.
The Jewish Agency official
disclosed that 450,000 Shkolim
had already been sold in Israel,
making Israel's the largest dele-
gation to the Congress. Elec-
tithis to the Congress will be
held in the Jewish state at the
end of October.

University of Michigan's ex-
change student to Queen's Uni-
versity, Belfast, for 1950-51, it
was announced in Ann Arbor by
Dean R. A. Sawyer of the U. of
M. .gradua,te school. Hurwitz will
continue his studies in econom-
ics in Ireland.

building offering wide medical
facilities under auspices of the

was - dedicated and named for
the late Daniel Frisch, president
of the Zionist Organization of
America, who died in office
earlier this year.

The 70th birthday of ERNEST
BLOCH, reinowneCI Jewish com-
poser, was celebrated here by
the San Francisco Conservatory
of Music., of which he was direc-
tor 25 years ago. Mr. Bloch,
through a bequest from Mrs.
Sigmund Stern, now lives in
Oregon where he composes his
music. The Swiss-born compos-
er wrote an entire new series of
Jewish music, including the
"Baal Shem" themes on Chassi-
dic life, the "Jewish Poems," the
"Israel" symphony of Psalms set
to music.

Hobbs Bill Denounced

More than 50 prominent De-
troiters have joined in a state-
ment denouncing the Hob b s
Concentration Camp Bill, H.R.
10, which passed the House and
is now in the Senate, it was an-
nounced by the Michigan Com-
mittee for Protection of Foreign
Born, Civil Rights Congress.
The statement, in the form of
an Open Letter to the Ameri-
can People, originally signed by
75 prominent Americans, among
them Dr. David de Sola Pool and
Rabbi Henry Cohen, expressed
shock at the fact that Congress
was "giving serious considera-
tion to legislation as dangerous
to our democratic institutions
as the Hobbs Concentration
Camp Bill." Local signers in-
clude Rabbi Leon Fram.

HAIFA, (JTA) —More than
2,000 Jewish immigrants arrived
in Israel this week aboard three
vessels. A total of 1,657 Jews
landed from Romania, making
this transport the largest single
contingent from Romania since
the Bucharest regime decided to
lift the emigration bars for
Israel-bound Jews. A group of
165 Turkish Jews. landed while
250 Jews arrived from an Italian
port.
Farmer Premier of Eire, Eamon
de Valera, who toured Israel on a
Holy Year visit was honored at a
dinner tendered by Chief Rabbi
Issac Herzog—who once served
as Chief Rabbi of Eire.
