JERUSALEM—Twenty thousand Bedouins of the Negev will
be innoculated against tuberculosis during August . . . The settle-
ment of Kiryat Anavim, ten miles west of here, recently cele-
brated its thirtieth anniversary . . . A three-way celebration, Pre-
mier Ben Gurion attending, was marked in Eilat, on the Gulf
of Aqaba at the tip of Israel, when the ancient town marked a
new housing development, inauguration of telephone service and
launching of a water supply line.
TEL AVIV—Ten teen-age Bulgarian bOys and girls were ex-
pelled from the Givat Brenner agricultural training school for
organizing a Communist underground in the colony. They ad-
mitted membership in the Communist Party . . . Mordecai Namir
and Ehud Avriel, Israel ministers to Russia and Hungary, respect-
ively, left here to resume their posts . . . Eamon De Valera, former
Prime Minister of Eire, left by plane after a six-day visit, said his
visit had corrected "a lot of wrong notions" about Israel . . •
One Israel soldier was killed and two wounded in a clash with
Arab infiltrees in the Sharon district. More than 500 Arab in-
filtrees were seized in the Jerusalem diserict, their weapons con-
fiscated, and the infiltrees turned over to the Isral Army. The
infiltrees had killed 10 Jews and • eight Arabs, carrying out 200
robberies and • thefts, the damages amounting to nearly $90,000.

Europe

STOCKHOLM — Europahjelpen, SWedish relief organization,
will contribute $150,000 to Youth Aliya for establishment of a
hospital in Israel for orphaned immigrant children suffering from
chronic diseases.
ROME—Reports circulated here of the arrest in Hungary of
several Jewish 'members of the Hungary Socialist Party. The ar-
rested included two former members of the Hungarian Parliament.
DUSSELDORF, Germany—Eight persons, who assaulted two
Jews in Bensheim last month, were charged with "disturbing
public order."

North Africa

TUNIS—The provisional North African bureau of Hatzohar

Zionist Revisionist Union urged Israel to transfer to Israel the
remains of Vladimir Jabotinsky, now buried in the United States.

Australia

SYDNEY—Former inmates of Nazi concentration camps in
Sidney' and Melbourne have united to put forward claims against
the German government.
MELBOURNE—In response to representations from the Exec-
utive Council of AuStralian Jewry, pointing out that increasing
numbers of anti-Semitic and Fascist publications have been im-
ported into Australia in recent weeks, the Minister for Trade and
Customs has ordered detention of all imported literature of a
seditious nature.

JNF Designated Sole Purchaser
Of Arab, German Lands in Israel

NEW YORK, (JTA) — The
Jewish National Fund has been
designated by a special act of
the Israel parliament as the
principal body authorized to
purchase land holdings of the
Arabs who fled the country dur-
ing the recent Arab-Jewish hos-
tilities, as well as the property
belonging to enemy Germans,
according to a cable received
from Jerusalem by the JNF of-
fice in New York.
Under the new law, the Jewish
National Fund . will be enabled
to acquire title to tracts of land
constituting the bulk of the
country's entire area, including
entire towns and villages. Not
more than 100,000 dunams of
urban property may, according
to the provisions of the bill, be
sold to private buyeis. The ac-

SAN FRANCISCO—West coast offices of the National Jewish
Welfare Board are ready to meet increased needs of the armed
forces for religious materials and Kosher foods . . . Mrs. Milton L.

Alameda and Contra Costa counties this' October are complete.
TUCSON—The Anti-Defamation League film, "Your Neighbor
Celebrates" depicting various Jewish holidays, has been acquired
by the University of Arizona.
