THEY'VE GOT a camp for
practically everybody else . . . so
why not one for old-timers . . •
and that's just what Camp
Chelsea will be for five days,
from Aug 27 to Sept. 2 . . . Hear-
ing that the minimum age will
be 55, one man' called up the
Jewish Center on 12th St. and
asked if he was too old . . .
may be over 80," said the gent,
"but I sure don't look it."
ACTIVITIES FOR THE old
folks . . . no age limit . . . will
include swimming, volley ball,
croquet, dramatics, group sing-
ing, hiking and horseshoe pitch-
ing . . . Also being planned is
softball for the men . . . with
the rules probably to state that
if a ball gets caught in a beard
it's a ground-rule double . . .
There'll be a Tall Story Contest
. . and a prize given to the
one who can tell the biggest fib
. . . Also tabbed for the old-
timers will be a masquerade
ball.

EMPLOYING A NEW - maid,
Mrs. Julian Bessman told her to
always serve from the left and
take the plates frOm the right
. . . The girl replied, "I won't
forget, ma'am, but what's the
matter. SUperstitious or some-
thing?"

TO BE A CONFIRMED Batch-

BACK FROM HER vacation in
New York, Lois Ann Krell told
a group of friends in delight of
the opportunity she had had to
apply the knowledge she had
acquired in her First Aid class
. . "It was wonderful," said
Lois, "it was so fortunate that
I had had the training . • . I
was crossing Fifth Ave. at 57th
St. and heard a crash behind
me . . . I turned around and saw
a poor man who had been struck
by a taxicab . . . He had a corn-
pound fracture of the leg, was
bleeding terribly, was uncon-
scious and seemed to have a
fractured skull . .. Then all my
First Aid came back to me . . .
and I stooped right • down and
put my head between my legs
to keep myself from fainting!"

FAVORITE STORIES . . . By
Dr. Milton W. White . . who
remembers when he was aroused
in the middle of the night by a
phone call from a man to whose
family he had not had occasion
to render medical services for
some time . "Doctor," said the
excited man, "please come over
right away. My wife is in great
pain and I'm sure it's appendi-
citis." . • . Dr. White had been
sleepily mulling over the medical
history of the family and said,
"Well, now, it probably isn't
anything like that. I'll come
around first thing in the morn-
ing. Don't worry. Probably in-
digestion." . . . The man insisted
that he just had to come . .
I'm positive it's appendicitis,"
protested the alarmed husband
. . Dr. White was becoming
somewhat irritated by now .
"Oh come, Mr. , I took
out your wife's appendix al-
most two years ago. You know
as well as I do that she hasn't
got another one." . .
- That's
all right," said the husband,
"but I've got another wife."

SALLY AND SAM KLEIN slept
in the governor's suite for four
days as guests of the manage-
ment of Hotel Detroiter, where
the beautiful Flamingo Room is
also under the Bel-Aire Cater-
ing wing . . . in honor of their
Silver Wedding Anniversary . . .
Invitations to their recent gala
celebration said nothing about
what the occasion was for . .
and many folks were knocked
for a proverbial loop when they
found out . . . Who would have
believed that Sally and Sam
had been married for 25 years!
. . . It was a beautiful shindig
. . . with lighted candles on each
table and a fireman on hand
to see that the flames didn't
join the dancing . . . while al-
most 200 guests chimed in that
there's nothing like going to an
affair given by the caterers for
themselves . . . What food! . .
There'll be plenty of pictures for
posterity . . We counted four
photographers snapping their
shutters . . . including motion
pictures that made everybody a
star in the gala celebration hon-
oring the Silver Anniversary of
a couple of swell people who de-
serve all the happiness that life
can offer.

Knollicood to Stage Comedy,
Long to Belong; Aug. 12

James I. Ellmann, president of
Knollwood Country Club, an-
nounced this week that a mu-
sical comedy—"I
Long to Belong"
—will be staged
at the club on
Saturday eve-
ning, Aug. 12.
"Members of
the cast, drawn

cha,"I Long to Belong' and
"Teitelbaum, •Feitelbaum and

The play,' a satire of country
club life, was originally written
by New York playwright Lenore
Brooks, and adapted and re-
written for the Knollwood ,pro-
duction by Dr. Gilbert Israel, a
member of Knollwood.

was sustained when the Jewish
third baseman ran after a pop
fly and lost the ball in the sun.
The apple landed, square on his
nose, breaking that instrument
for the ninth time and, in addi-
tion, gave young Al two beau-
tiful shiners which he carried
for a week.
