MORRIS KRAIZMAN of 2978 Grand Ave: celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at a garden party July 2 at the home of their son, Jack Kraizman, 3820 Pasadena. Mr. Kraizman, 80, and his wife, 70, are natives of Kiev, Russia, where they were married 50 years ago. Portugese Jewish Family Renews Ancestral Claim to Labrador Rights THE HAGUE, (JTA) — The claim of the Portuguese Jewish family De La Penha to the possession of Labrador, Cana- dian peninsula, was revived by four descendants of the De La Penha family who started a search for documents to "prove conclusively" their right to the peninsula, Reuters reported. According to . recor ds secured by the descendants of the De La Penha family in Canada and London, King William the Third of Britain was saved from drowning in a shipwreck in 1695 by Joseph De La Penha, an Amsterdam Jewish merchant. In gratitude King William gave De La Penha hereditary tenure forever of Labrador. This grant was legalized in 1697 in a docu- ment signed at Het Loo Palace in Holland and renewed 'in 1732 and 1768; the descendants of the De La . Penha family claim. One of the descendants, To- bias Green of Montreal, discov- ered in 1927 the original 1732 and 1768 documents. Some time later, a Dutchman in London found the original 1697 docu- ment. The Labrador case can to light in 1927 when Isaac De La Penha, a Montreal Jew who is a direct descendant of the Am- sterdam merchant; filed a law- suit claiming Labrador. How- ever, the second World War broke out while the case was under consideration and it was delayed. Many members of the family were killed in the Ger , man concentration camps. French Consuls At Cornerstone Rites Of 'Adopted' Settlement JERUSALEM, (JTA) — The United States and French con- suls attended a ceremony at the Neve Ilan settlement which was "adopted" by the Zionist re- gion of Long 'Island, New York, and populated by French and Belgian immigrants who, as Maquis, fought the Nazis. The ceremony marked the laying of a cornerstone of a kindergarten in the collective settlement. The funds for the building were raised among Zionists in Long Island. The Long Island Region has also sent refrigerators and egg in- cubators to the settlement. Israel Police Round Up 105 Infiltrees in Raid JERUSALEM, (JTA) — In a sudden raid, Israel police swept down on the Arab village of Abu Gosh, west of here, and rounded up 105 infiltrees. Police began a house-to-house search demanding to see Israel govern- ment identity cards, which were issued only to Arabs and Jewish residents in Israel. The mukhtar of the village telegraphed .
