Clubs, through the Men's Club
of the Congregation, made its
annual award of a medal to the
outstanding student of the Sha-
arey Zedek Schools to Frederick
Horwitz. Abraham Satovsky
presented the award.
Fred Horwitz had been an
honor student thi:oughout his
entire 12 years in Sunday School.
He has studied Hebrew for 7
years, participated in many of
the synagogue's extracurricu-
lar activities, served on t h e
board of the Junior Congrega-
tion and the past year was vice-
president. His 'leadership quali-
ties were further exemplified by
his election as president of the
1950 graduating class at Central
,High School."
Presentations were made to
other outstanding students in
behalf of the Men's Club by Dr.
Morris M. Burstein. Kiddush
Cups were awarded • to the fol-
lowing: 8th grade, Ruth Ellen
Katzman and Elaine Stein; 9th
grade, Paul Goodman and
Eleanor Shur; 11th and .12th
grades, Marian Cullen, Doris
Ruskin, Sue Popkin. and Marion
Sanders.

39 Women to Board

Sisters of Zion Mizrachi held
a lawn party June 22 at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. S. Edel-
man. Mrs. Isaac Rosenthal was
chairman. The following were

Summer sports are underway
for members of Masada, Shaarey
Zedek YPS and Raymond Block
post, JWV.
Marvin Hoffrichter, athletics
chairman for Masada chapter,
ZOD, has prep.ared schedules for
the baseball games to be held be-
tween the two teams of Masada
and teams of YPS and Block
post.
The first game took place
June 25 at Angel Field with
Masada defeating the YPS team
11 to 4.
Masada team No. 1 will- play
Block Post July 2 and YPS will
meet Masada team No. 2.
An all-day outing will take
place Sunday, July 16. Helen
Noble of YPS is supervising ar-
rangements.
Any person with musical abil-
ity and his own instrument is

details of a band to be formed

Mizrachi Youth Plan
`Point Four' Program

NEW YORK = A miniature
Point Four" plan to aid Jews in
the backward areas of Iraq,
North Africa, and other Middle
Eastern
countries was an-
nounced here.
The plan, announced by Miss
Rivkah Margolies; president
of
.
Junior Mizrachi Women, and
Simeon Kobrinetz, president of
Noar Mizrachi, calls for a num-
ber of select young Mizrachi
people to give on-e year of serv-
ice in these neglected Jewish
communities, as - well as in. the
religidus communities of Israel.
It was also announced that
both youth movements will un-
dertake a "planned Aliyah" (im-
migration) program to Israel,
with a view to providing per-
sonnel for specific positions,
rather than sending manpower
aimlessly..

RABBI HALBERSTAM

The Rebbe will be at Sabbath
services of Cong. Bnai Zion,
Humphrey at Holmur, this sab-
bath, and will address Young
Israel at their center over the
week-end.
Rabbi Halberstam, 41, is the
son of the famed Bobower
Rebbe of -L v o v, Poland, who
founded 48 Yeshivoth in com-
munities throughout Poland and
Galicia, and died at the hands
of the Nazis in 1941 at the age
of 66.
Rabbi Halberstam took over
leadership of the network of
yeshivoth prior to his father's
death and in the wake of war,
brought some 600 students to
the United States.
Here he has established trade
schools in New York and worked
for the rehabilitation of hun-
dreds of young men he brought
to this country.

The newly-formed Beth Aaron
Young Adult Club is planning
to continue to meet and hold
social events during the sum-
mer.
