TER, Bnai Brith, executive
board met at the home of Goldie
Bank on Santa Barbara, Wed-
nesday afternoon under Molly
Berg, newly elected president.
Committee heads were appoint-
ed to be announced later. Mollie
Bank, Lena Zohott, Yetta Yates,
Irene Rodman, Belle Nadis. Mol-
ly ,Berg were noted as council
delegates. Plans for fall meet-
ings were formulated. The
Charlotte Bregman players of
the Louis Marshall dramatic
group will present their current
play at the District Grand Lodge
6 convention July 3 at the Book
Cadillac Hotel.

Form Group to Assist
Israel Philharmonic
Concert Here Feb. 4

Formation of Detroit Friends
of the Israel Philharmonic Or-
chestra, under the chairman-
ship of Max Osnos, became
known this week.
The Israel Philharmonic Or-
chestra will present a concert
here at the Masonic Temple on
Sunday afternoon, Feb. 4, under
the direction of Leonard Bern-
stein.
Mr. Osnos has issued a call to
Detroiters to make advance res-
ervations of seats for this con-
cert. The headquarters of the
Detroit Friends of Israel Phil-
harmonic is at the office of the
Jewish Welfare Federation, 250
W. Lafayette, where reservations
for the concert are being ac-
cepted.
"We feel that contributors
and workers in the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation should receive
first preference for tickets," Mr.
Osnos states in his letter.

Koussevitzky, Bernstein
Fo Conduct Orchestra

NEW YARK, (JTA)—Dr. Serge

Koussevitzky and Leonard Bern-
stein will conduct the Israel
Philharmonic Orchestra in most
of the concerts of its American
tour next year, to be held under
the auspices of the American
Fund for Israel Institutions. S.
Hurok, noted impresario, will
manage the tour.
Dr. Koussevitsky, upon his re-
turn from a concert tour of Is-
rael and six other countries, ex-
pressed high praise for the
"quality of the Israel Philhar-
monic Orchestra." He will re-
turn to Israel in October.

Dukes, Lillian Onrich, past presi-
dent, was guest of honor. The
dramatic g r o u p, entertained
with a show, entitled "Arthur
Gotkes Talent Scouts" at the
installation June 7, and pre-
sented the same s h o w, for
George Gershwin Chapter, Bnai
Brith, installation June 13, at
the Belcrest. Sandy Schore is
chairman of the group. Its di-
rector is Eve Meister.

Mrs. Manning, who for 14
years has been active in Bnai
Brith and other communal ac-
tivities, is past president of Pis-
gah Chapter of Bnai Brith, was
a vice president of the Council,
has been on the Board of Wom-
en's Division of the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation and served as
vice president of Youth Educa-
tion League.

Parboil tongue for twenty
minutes and remove tough.'skin.
Place onion, salt, juice of lemon,
honey, cup of water and boil
with tongue for one hour, then
add garlic and spices and cook
until tender. Strain liquid and
pour over sliced tongue and sim-
mer for five minutes. Delicious
when reheated.

Something different is Mrs.
Blumeno's Vegetable Pudding, a
combination of three vegetables.
6 medium carrots, 4 sweet pota-
toes, salt and pepper, 1/2 cup of
water, 1/2 cup of sugar. Boil un-
til tender—about 20 minutes.
Set aside. Grate 4 large white
potatoes, season with salt and
pepper, add a grated onion, one
cup of flour, one teaspoon bak-
ing powder, two eggs and four
tablespoons shortening. Grease
baking dish and place carrot

AJC Board Delegates

Officers and board members
of Detroit Women's Division of
American Jewish Congress at-
tended a luncheon and board
meeting at Huyler's on Wednes-
day, June 14.
Nomination and election of
delegates to the National Board
of AJC were held. Mesdames
C. P. Feinberg, William Gottes-
man, and Barnet Dickman were
selected delegates, and Mes-
dames Lionel Willens, Dan Sha-
piro, and Irving Dworman are
alternates.
Mrs. Harry Frank, president,
opened the meeting and extend-
ed greetings to the old and in-
coming board members.

two hours at 325 degrees.

A delightful summer desert,
Mrs. Blumeno's third recipo, is
this very luscious cheese cake.
Roll into crumbs % package
Zweiback, blend with 2 table-
spoons butter and 2 tablespoons
sugar. Press % of crumbs into
bottom of 9-inch spring form.
Cream 1/2 cup sugar, -2 table-
spoons flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt,
one pound of cream cheese, one
teaspoon vanilla, then add one
cup of sour cream and four egg
yolks, one at a time. Whip four
stiffly beaten egg whites and
fold into cream cheese mixture.
Pour over crumbs and sprinkle
top with balance of crumb mix-
ture. Bake for one hour at 325
degrees. If done, silver knife will
come out clean. Cool before re-
moving from pan.
