Mrs. Roy Y. Chatlin of Fullerton Ave. has returned from
. Phoenix, Arizona, where he attended the graduation of her daugh-
ter, Lila Corrine, from North Phoenix High School.
Evelyn Janice Steingold, daughter of Mrs. Gertrude Steingold
of 3743 Boston Blvd., will be home to their friends and family at
an open house in honor of her graduation on Sunday, June 25,
2 to 6 p.m. no cards.
Mesdames Samuel Zelde and Sam Leib gave a tea at the lat-
ters home in honor of the . forthcoming marriage of Sylvia Glad-
stone.
Open house will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam
.Schwartz Friday evening, June 23, at 3269 Elmhurst, in honor of
Mr, and Mrs. Harry Appel, on their 25th wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Corby of Calvert Ave. gave a dinner party
for their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Afxs. Richard M.
Kommel (Eve Corby), in honor of the graduation of both from
Wayne University. Mrs. Kommel was graduated with a B.A. from
the College of Education and Mr. Kommel from the College of
Liberal Arts. The couple also celebrated their second wedding
anniversary.
Upon -his graduation from Temple University, Dr. and Mrs.
Ramon Jacobs, daughter and son of Mrs. Lee Halperin and Dr.
and Mrs. Joseph Jacobs are spending the summer with their par-
ents, before leaving for California in the fall where Dr. Jacobs will

Bride-elect Eileen Schwartz was feted at showers given by her
sisters Mrs. Arthur Tractenberg and Mrs: Harry Granader; her
aunts, Mrs. Ralph Rimar, Miss Janet Ginsburg, Mrs. Rose Gins-
"burg, Mrs. Harry Hochman, Mrs. Ben Brown, Mrs. Morris Schwartz
and Mrs. Charles Beigler; and by Mrs. Herman Ross. Her mother .
Mrs. Isadore Schwartz, gave a luncheon honoring Eileen, her hos-
tesses and out of town guests.
Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Willis and daughter, Ann, recently re-
turned from a trip to New York City.
Mrs. Leona Weil Krieger of Ewald Circle, gave a bridal shower
at the Statler Terrace Room Saturday, June 10, in honor of Delores
Sinai of Santa Barbara Dr., who will wed this fall.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Aronsson have returned to their home
on Chicago Blvd. with their son, Herbert, after having attended
his graduation from the Babson Institute.
Dr. and Mrs. Mithael Freeman, accompanied by their daugh-
ter, Mrs. Warren Shwayder, are spending the week in Boston,
where they will attend the graduation of Donald Freeman from
Harvard University.
Recent guests at the Book-Cadillac Hotel were Mr. and Mrs.
Sol Smith, of Chicago, who were in Detroit to attend the Wolf e-
Cherney wedding at the Whittier Hotel on Sunday, June 18.
•Mr. and Mrs. Leon Winkelman of Fairfield Ave. sailed on
June 2 on the S. S. Niew Amsterdam to spend six weeks in Euro-
pean travel.
Mrs. Jack Weinberg of Beverly Hills, Calif., is spending several
weeks in Detroit visiting her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Platt of Birchcrest Drive.
- Miss Susan Dreifus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Dreifus
of Birchcrest Drive, has left for California where she will attend
the summer session of U. C. L. A. in Los Angeles.
Spending the week in Toronto is Mrs. Norman Helpert of
Elmhurst Ave.
En route home after a two months' trip to Europe and Israel,
Mr. and Mrs. David Sessin of Westwood, Calif., were guests of
relatives and friends in Detroit recently.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Kramer of Roslyn Road are driving their- son
Jimmie to Chicago- this week, where he• will join a group leaving
for Camp Thunderbird in Bimidji, Minn.

and 20th centuries) or contem-
porary Jewish affairs.
This contes t, sponsored
through the World Jewish Con-
gress for the purpose of stimu-
lating research and increasing
knowledge 'of Jewish life in all
its aspects, has been established
by Dr. Robert S. Marcus, politi
cal director of the World Jew-
ish- Congress in memory- of his
son, Jay Joshua Marcus, who
died of poliomyelitis last sum-
mer. The prizes will be known as
the Jay Joshua Marcus ,Memo-
rial Awards.
