Congregational Activities Orthodoxy Opposes Religious Flag Project NEW YORK — The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America has announced its opposition to the adoption of a separate religious flag for American Jewry, in answer to a proposal recently made by Rab- bi Aryeh ,Ley, director of the JWB division of religious activi- ties. Pointing out that traditional Judaism does not recognize the existence of an "American Judaism, separate from Klal Yisrael, the World Community of Israel," the statement ex- pressed the opposition of Tradi- tional Judaism to the adoption Of "concepts and symbols which will divide American Jewry from Klal Yisrael, whether- they hide behind the Ten Command- ments or any other emblem."
