Describing the great achieve- ment of bringing 400,000 new settlers into Israel, Rabbi Segal pointed out that all is not glor- ious, that there are renewed threats to Israel by the Arabs, that the people are subjected to austerity and rationing, that there is an economic struggle, that there are political and re- ligious problems to overcome. "These problems," he assert- ed, "are more pleasant to bear than the tyranny and degrad- ation to which the Jewish sur- vivors from Nazism were sub- jected in Europe."
