During his recent visit to Is-
rael, Edward G. Robinson con-
ferred with President Chaim
Weizmann, Leonard Lyons re-
ports in the New York Post.
They discussed material short-
ages.
"Yes, we have an obvious
shortage in all assets here," said
Weizmann, "except in the most
important asset—The Mind."
Robinson mentioned the lush
oases he had seen in the midst
of arid wasteland.
"This isn't wasteland," Weiz-
mann assured him. "The poet,
Bialik, once said that when our
people left here, God covered
the land with boulders and sand,
but only as camouflage to make
others think it useless. Bialik
was right," said Weizmann, "All
it needs is to remove the cam-
ouflage—and a bit of sweat."
An average of 66,000 babies are
born in the United States each
week.
