*Next year in Jerusalem"

From time immemorial that ringing phrase pronounced

at the culmination of the festive Seder service for

Passover has symbolized the imperishable affinity of

the Jew to the land of his forefathers.

For same it has meant physical return to the ancient
land of the Jewish people on the Mediterranean.

For others it has expressed the deep-rooted hope for

the rebirth of the Jewish nation. For still others

of thousands more who have not yet found their way

home, "next year" has taken on a sense of immediacy

and fulfillment. And for the rest, they can be proud that

Israel lives again.
