NEW YORK, N. Y.—The Jew-
ish State of Israel will record an
increase of 60 percent in popu-
lation on the second anniver-
sary of its establishment which
will be observed on April 22 on
the Hebrew calendar. The num-
ber of immigrants to enter Is-
rael from May 14, 1948, the day
the Jewish State was proclaimed
to the anniversary date is ex-
pected to reach 400,000, accord-
ing to information released by
the (Palestine Foundation Fund,
Inc.) Keren Hayesod here. •
The report reveals that some
90,000 persons are still in immi-
grant camps while close to 130,-
000 immigrants have been ab-
sorbed in various towns and set-
tlements of Israel. Some 45.000
persons have been settled in ma-
jor towns and cities and approx-
imately 35,000 have been absorb-
ed in workers' settlements.
