S. Fund Drive A Yemenite member of the Israel Knesset, now in New York, charged that Yemenite refugees were the victims uf discrimination in Israel, and that the American Committee for the Relief of the Yemenite Jews will begin a $1,000,000 drive in this country to back a Yemenite-aide program. Zcharia Gluska charged the Jewish Agency for Palestine with attempting to ban the drive and reduce the Yemenites to "a community of hewers of wood and drawers of water." Agency officials promptly re- futed Gluska's charge, counter- ing with the example of the dramatic "magic carpet" airlift that the Agency sponsored to bring the 40,000 Jews of Yemen to Israel. Judge Morris Rothenberg, na- tional chairman of the United Palestine Appeal revealed that over $17,000,000 is being spent for rehabilitation of the Yemen- ites. Gluska asserted that other or- ganizations, recipients of the United Jewish Appeal, with less need than the Yemenites, have won permission to conduct sep- arate drives in America.
