Congregations S:Tess Campaign on Festival

Pesach Service Schedule
Listed at Synagogues

One of the principal features of the Passover services

in Detroit synagogues and temples this year will be a special

emphasis on the Allied Jewish Campaign. All Detroit con-
gregations have been asked to set aside time during their
services on the first day of Passover, Sunday, April 2, to
bring the message of the campaign to worshippers, according
to Rabbi M. J. Wohlgelernter,

chairman of the Campaign's
congregations section.
Schedules for the holiday
services, for the "Shabbat Ha-
Godol" this week, and the Pass-
over Sabbath next Friday and
Saturday have been announced
by a number of congregations:
At Shaarey Zedek, services
will begin at 6 p. m. this Friday,
and at 10:45 a. m. Saturday, with
worshippers instructed to recite
the Shachrith service at their
homes before proceeding to the
synagogue for the reading of
the Torah.
Saturday, at 6:30 p. m., Pass-
over services will be hAld. At
8:45 a. m. Sunday, Rabbi Morris
Adler will preach on "How Free
Are You?" On Monday, April 3,
8:45 a.m., Rabbi Benjamin Gor-
relick will speak on "Roads Out
of Egypt." Cantor Jacob H. So-
nenklar, with choir under the
direction of Dan Frohman, will
officiate at all services.
Cong. Bnai David
Maariv will be at 7 p.m. Sat-
urday and Sunday at cong. Bnai
David. Sunday morning at 8:45,
Rabbi Joshua Sperka will preach
on "To Be Free—To Do." Serv-
ices for Saturday, the seventh
day of Pesach, commence at 8:45
a. m., with Rabbi Sperka preach-
ing on "To Be Free—To Believe."
Yiskor will be recited at 11 a. m.
Cantor Hyman Adler and the
Bnai David choir, directed by
Harry Siegel, will chant all
Passover services.
Temple Beth El's Passover wor-
ship will be at 10:30 a. m. Sun-
day, with Dr. B. Benedict Glazer
preaching. The annual congre-
gational Seder will be at 6:30
p. m. Sunday in the Franklin
Memorial Hall. Memorial serv-
ices will be read at 10:30 a. m.
Saturday, April 8.
Northwest Services
Passover services at North-
west Hebrew Congregation will
be at 6:30 p. m. Saturday and
Sunday, and at 8:45 a. in. Sun-
day and Monday. Rabbi Jacob
E. Segal will officiate and
preach at all morning services,
with Cantor Nicholas Fenakel
and a male choir chanting the
ritual. On Saturday, April 1,
services will begin at 7:30 a.m.,
to enable worshippers to par-
take of a chometz meal within
the permitted time.
Cong. Beth Abraham's sched-
ule includes services at 6:55
p. m. Friday; 7 a. m. and 7:30
p. m. Saturday; 9 a. m. and 7
p. m. Sunday; 9 a. m. Monday.
Chol Hamoed services will be at
7:30 a. m. and 7 p. m. Rabbi Is-
rael I. Halpern will preach on
Sunday, and Rabbi Joseph Thu-
min on Monday.
Special early services will be
held at 7:30 a. m. Saturday at
Cong. Beth Aaron. Sunday and
Monday, worship will begin at 9
a. m. On Sunday, Rabbi Pinchos
Katz's topic will be "Pesach in
Jewish History." On Monday he
will preach on "Always Remem-
ber the Past." Yizkor will be
conducted at 10:30 a. m., with a
special memorial for the mar-
tyrs of world Jewry.

Temple Israel Religious School
April 2, 8 and 9.

Adas Yeshurun . Schedule

Cong. Adas Yeshurun's service
schedule includes worship at
6:30 p.m. Friday, 7 a. m. and
7:30 p. m. Saturday; 9:15 a. m.
and 7:30 p. m. Sunday, and 9:15
a. m. Monday. At that service,
Rabbi Leo Goldman will speak
on "Pharoah of the 20th Cen-
tury."
Cong. Shaarey Zion's schedule
differs slightly, with worship
planned for 6:30 . p. m. Friday,
7 a. m. and '7:30 p. m. Saturday;
9 a. m. and 7:30 p. m. Sunday,
and 9 a. m. Monday. On Sunday
morning, Rabbi Leo Goldman
will preach. on "When Israel
Went Forth Out of Egypt."
Services at Cong. Beth Itz-
chock are listed at 6:30 p.m.
this Saturday and Sunday, and
8:30 a. m. Sunday and Monday.
On the first morning, Rabbi
Strauss will speak on "Knowing
What to Answer." For Sunday,
his sermon topic will be "Win-
ning Freedom." The last two
days of the holiday will follow
a similar schedule, with Rabbi
Strauss planning to preach on
"The Song of Songs" and "Gain-
ing Immortality." Yizkor will De
recited on Sunday.. .
Cong. Mogen Abrahant
Rabbi Max J. Wohlgelernter
will preach in Yiddish on "What .
Price Liberty" at services for the
first day of Passover, 9 -

Sunday. His topic at 9 a. m.
Monday will be "Matzo and
Mitzvo." Other services are
timed at 6:30 p. m. Friday; 7
a. m. Saturday; 7:30 p. m. Sat-
urday and Sunday.
Cong. Gemiluth Chassodim
has set Passover services at 6:35
p. m. Friday, 6:45 a.m. and 6:40
p.m. Saturday; 8:45 a.m. and
8:50 p. m. Sunday, and 8:45 a. m.
Monday. Rabbi Leo Neuhaus'
sermon topics will be "The Eter-
nal People" and "The Eternal
Lord."
The Passover • festival will be
ushered in by Cong. Bnai Moshe
with services at 6:35 p. m. Sat-
urday. Morning services will be
at 8:45 Sunday and Monday,
and evening worship at 6:45.
Rabbi M o s e s. Lehrman will
preach on "The Life That Is
Free," and "Through Stages of
Development." Cantor David
Katzman will chant the prayers.
Chol Hamoed services will be at
7:15 a. m. and 6:50 p. m. Junior
congregation will worship at 10
a. m. Sunday and Monday.

TEMPLE EMANUEL, Grand Rapids: Sabbath Eve services Friday,
March 31. Rabbi Harry Essrig will speak on "The Gentle Peo-
ple of Prejudice."
CONG. BNAI DAVID, Elmhurst at 14th: Sabbath services Friday,
