Illustrated by Edith Miller and lithographed from the author's own typescript, from hand lettering by Miss Miller, the book was published by Kilo- graphy, '702 N. Wekern Ave., Los Angeles 27. The book also is procurable from Miss Zahava (400 S. Burlington Ave., Los Angeles 5), who hopes to create a nation wide market for it. The stories explaining the songs were prepared by David Bridger and the musical ar- rangement is by Gershon King- sley. The dance movements, as outlined by Miss Zahava, are suitable for group activities and will be found very helpful by dance teachers. These are the 10 songs util- ized for the dances prepared by Miss Zahava: Gey Ich Mir Shpatzirn, Achtik Er un Zibetzik Zee, Machetonim Geyen, Yoshke Yoshke, Dreydl Tantz, Deim Rebns Tish, Die Muzinke Oisge- gebn, A Finf un Tzvantziker, Die Yomtovdike Teg, Der Bech- er. There is a glossary explain- ing the Yiddish words. Miss Zahava's book is en- hanced by an introduction by Prof. Mordecai M. Kaplan whose s c h o l a r l y essay-the longest single item in the book-praise Miss Zahava's effort as having "the additional merit of being a firebrand saved froni the fires which swept over East European Jewry in recent years. They re- flect the folk spirit of millions of Jews whom the demon of Nazism exterminated . . . There can be no more effective way of defeating that cruel pulpose than to bring back to life the folk spirit that animated those melodies and dances." LONDON- (JTA)-The Iran- ian Embassy in London has as- sured the Agudas Israel that Iran will extend to Iraqi Jewish refugees full hospitality and will not put into effect deportation orders which have been issued against some of them, it was re- ported at a meeting of the Eu- ropean executive of the Agudah. Albert Schonbar, published by Exposi- tion Press, 251 Fourth Ave., New 10, is a moving story, the plot of which was motivated by personal experiences. The author, who is a leader in synagogue affairs in Flush- ing, N. Y. rose to the top of the ladder in a struggle for success from the days of poverty as an immigrant boy to his present position as president of a large printing company. The novel itself is about a young immigrant who struggled, who rose to success, who met with disillusionment, whose chief ambition in life became the task of striving for abolition of war. The novel is a protest against war. The author was moved to write his story after attending a dinner for wounded veterans of the last war. It is clear that his sense of justice encouraged him in his effort and the result of his work is quite commend- able.
