Edith Albert Freedman of Whitmore Rd. is spending a month
at the Whitehall Hotel, Palm Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Karbal of Leslie Ave. were honored by their
family and close friends at a celebration March 1 at Club Bali
in honor of their 25th wedding anniversary.
Dr. and Mrs. Albert Krohn of Cambridge Road have left for
San Francisco where they will visit with friends befOfe sailing to
Hawaii for an extended vacation.
Amy Meyer has returned to her home in Chicago after a visit
in Detroit with Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Morton of Roslyn Road.
Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Ginn of Birchcrest Drive have returned
from a six weeks' vacation in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where-they
were guests at the Caribe-Hilton Hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Kaichen of Huntington Woods have
returned from Cincinnati where they visited with relatives and
friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wallach and their daughter, Roslyn, are.
spending several weeks in Miami Beach.
Mrs. Harold Raab of Cincinnati is the guest of her parents,
Mr. and' Mrs. Morton Ashner of Glynn Ct.
Mr. and Mrs. Irving _Grayson of San Juan Drive are visiting
their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Brill, in Minneapolis, where they
will attend the marriage of Mrs. Grayson's sister.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Srenco of St. Louis, Mo., visited in Detroit
during the past week-end with their brother and sister-in--law,
Mr. and Mrs. Philip F. Brown of. Santa Barbara Dr.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lieberman of Birchcrest Dr. spent the
week in St. Joseph, Mich.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rosen of Parkside Ave. and their daugh-
ter, Ilene, are visiting relatives in South Bend, Ind.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Tabashnik of Fairfield Ave. are spending
several weeks in Miami Beach.
Miss Etta Ascher and Clarence Ascher of the Lee Crest are
vacationing in Miami Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Sol Rose of Boston Blvd. are travelling in Mexico.
Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer Meyer of Suffolk Dr. are vacationing
in Palm Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Weisman of Suffolk Dr. have left for
Los Angeles, where they will be joined by their daughter, Nancy

gagement of their daughter, Tir-
zah, to Aubrey M. Lansky, . son
of Philip Lansky of Ann Arbor.
Miss Rehfeldt attended the
University of Southern Califor-
nia and the University of Cali-
fornia- at Los Angeles. Her fi-
ance will graduate from the Col-
lege of Engineering at 'the Uni-
versity of Michigan in June.
They plan a summer wedding.

ney Ross, turned over 54 boxes
of • chocolates to Chaplain
Nathan. Levinson of the Veter-
ans Administration HospitAl at
Fort Custer, who will distribute
them to Jewish veterans. The
Club held a Purim party Thurs
day, March 2.

BRITH has changed the date of
its Monte Carlo party from April
22, as previously announced, to
April 15. Part of the proceeds
will be devoted to aid for the
Leo N. Levi Hospital. Hy Koenigs-
berg and Irving Rubin head the
party committee.

GEMILUTH CHASSODIM will be
host to Henry M. Gottlieb, as-
sistant U.S. attorney, at 8:30 p.m.
Tuesday, March 14, at the club's
home, Davison at Linwood, Dr.
Jack Stattmann, persident, an-
nounces. Gottlieb's topic will be:
"Democracy in Action." He will
trace the mechanics of the
processes of government with
special emphasis on the activities
of the United States Department
of Justice. Guests are welcome.

Kibbutzim Plan Homes
For 10,000 Immigrants

The World Jewish Congress
was singled out for praise at
the UN Social and Economic
Council, by J. Plimsoll, Austra-
lian delegate, who drew atten-
tion to the valuable work some
organizations having consulta-
tive status at the UN had done
in assisting the Council and its
commissions.
Of some ninety consultative
bodies thrbughout the world, he
singled out . for commendation
by name only two, the Interna-
tional Chamber of Commerce
and . the World Jewish Congress.
He • expressed appreciation for
the. very great assistance the
Congress gave "in our study of
statelessness and refugee prob-
lems both herd and in MIT _com-
missions." He also joined with
other delegates in criticizing
some organizations for using the
council as • a mere forum for
propaganda. -

TEL AVIV — (ISI) — Israel's
kibbutzim and kvutzot will ab-
sorb 10,000 immigrants in 1950.
Immigrants intending to join
kibbutzim will be sent to a spe-
cial camp accommodating 500,
established recently by a group
of settlements at Tirah, near
Haifa.
During the first week of Feb-
ruary, 2,681 new citizens arrived
and thd number in transit camps
rose to 86,123. In one day this
week, 1,100 immigrants arrived
from the Slav countries. The
Jewish Agency settled 156 immi-
grant families on the land and
2,337 housing units for immi-
grants were completed in Jan-
uary.

Lauds WJC Aid to UN

The only existent copy of an
edition of Rashi's Commentary
on the Pentateuch (The Five
Books of Moses) which was
printed in Zamora, Spain, in
1487, has been presented to the
library of the Jewish Theologi-
cal Seminary of America by
Louis M. Rabinowitz, chairman
of the seminary's library com-
mittee and a member of its
board of directors, it was an-
nounced by Dr. Alexander Marx,
seminary librarian.
Rabinowitz's latest gift is the
third book issued by the press
of Samuel ben Musa at,Zamora.
The preceeding two, a Penta-
teuch and a prayer book, are
only known through a reference
in the • printer's note in this
volume.
