Seder at Woodward Center March 19 Address Careerists

At the meeting of the Career
Group, National Council of Jew-
ish Women, Tuesday, March 14,
at the Jewish Community Cen-
ter, the program for the eve-
ning will be presented by the
Senior members of National
Council.
Projects now being undertak-
en by Council will be discussed
by Mrs. Oscar Schwartz, who
will talk on legislation; Mrs. Ma-
jor Siegel, who will talk on men-
tal hygiene and contemporary
Jewish affairs; Mrs. David Pol-
lack, social welfare.
Refreshments will be served.

Council of Detroit announces
plans for its third annual Mod-
el Seder, to be held Sunday,
March 19, at the Jewish Center
on Woodward.
Evelyn Stollman, holiday pro-
jects committee chairman, has
announced that the Seder will
feature a Haggadah written by
membeis of Temple Israel youth
and the Young Israel Organiza-
tion of Detroit. In addition to
traditional Passover food, there
will be music selections in keep-
ing with the spirit of the holi-
day. Rabbi Sidney Akselrad of
Temple Beth El will be the prin-
ciple speaker. -
All young adults are urged to

DR. ABRAHAM HESCHEL

sity's Hillel Foundation sponsors
the annual Hillel Lecture.
The 1950 lecture will be de-
livered by Dr. Abraham J. He-
schel, professor of Jewish ethics
and mysticism at' the Jewish
Theological Seminary of Ameri-
ca, at 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 14,
in room 101, Science Hall on the
Wayne campus. It will be co-
sponsored by Hillel and the Uni-
versity department of philoso-
phy.
His subject will be "Religion
and the Modern Man." Follow-
ing the talk, Dr. Heschel will be
honored at a reception at Hillel
House, 4841 Second.
Dr. Heschel was educated in
Poland and Germany. He has
taught at the Hebrew Union
College and has been at the
Seminary since 1945. He is
known as an authority in the
philosophy and theology of Ju-
daism, particularly in mystacism
and Chassidism. -
