Late Gifts May Push Dimes Campaign to Goal;

Volunteers Are Praised by Chairman Shapero

Dimes and dollars are still
marching to the aid of hundreds
of polio victims in Wayne Coun-
ty, Nate S. Shapero, chairman of
the 1950 March of Dimes, an-
nounced. Despite the fact that
total receipts to date are less
than those of former years, he
expressed confidence that be-
lated gifts would increase the
campaign total sufficiently to
permit a continuance of effec-
tive service to polio sufferers.
"Although we will not know
for several weeks what the ex-
act outcome of the campaign is,"
he said, "we are encouraged by
the excellent support given the
March of Dimes movement by
the press, radio and by thou-
sands of volunteer workers."
"I want to congratulate, too,
Mrs. Charles Gitlin, Mrs. M. K.
Turner, and Mrs. T. P. Daley,
for their continuing interest and
fine example," he said. "These
three leaders and the women
who served under them have
rendered invaluable assistance

to our March of Dimes cam-
paigns for many years and we
are indeed fortunate to. have
them."
