Groups' Cooperation
By Men's Club Council
Is Urged at Convention

DALLAS—Greater cooperation
between Reform, Conservative
and Orthodox Jews in America,
without compromise of indi-
vidual principles, was urged at
the biennial convention of the
National Federation of Temple
Brotherhoods here.
The proposal was placed be-
fore several hundred delegates
Of Reform Temple Brotherhoods
from all parts of the United
States and Canada by Barnet
Lieber m a n, of Philadelphia,
president of the Conservative
laymen's group, the National
Federation of Jewish Men's
Clubs.
To carry out the proposal
Lieberman suggested the forma-
tion of a Men's Club Council of
America as a consultive body,
comprised of the National Fed-
eration of Temple Brotherhoods,
the National Federation of Jew-
ish Men's Clubs and the Feder-
ation of Orthodox Men's Clubs.
He also recommended joint
support of the work of the Jew-
ish Chautauqua Society, the na-
tional educational project of the
Reform Temple Brotherhoods.

Rabbi Adler Greets
Veterans On Sabbath

Late Friday evening services
at Cong. Shaarey Zedek will be
held at 8:15 p.m., March 3, in
honor of the Jewish War Vet-
erans.
The speaker will be Jackson
J. Holtz, JWV national com-
mander. The guests will be
greeted by Rabbi Morris Adler.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the vet-
erans will act as hostesses at the
Oneg Shabbat.
Regular Sabbath services are
at 9. a.m. Saturday, March 4,
'junior congregation, 9:30 a.m.;
children's services, 10:30 a.m.
Early Friday evening services on
March 3, will be at 6 p.m.

On Purim Observance

Temple Israel Pupils
Celebrate Completion
Of Building Campaign

Temple Israel will hold a spe-
cial family Purim Sabbath eve
service at 8:30 p.m. Friday,
March 3, in the Lecture Hall of
the Detroit Institute of Arts.
A choir of pupils from grades
six and seven, conducted by
Shirley Zaft and accompanied
by Mrs. Molly Shaw, will render
Purim melodies.
At this service the pupils of
Temple Israel Religious School
will celebrate their victory in
their campaign to raise $1,000
for the building of Temple
Israel. Representatives of the
class which made the largest
contribution, Mrs. Milton Cap-
lan's seventh grade, will receive
from Rabbi Leon Fram the sym-
bol of victory, the Cornerstone
Trowel.
The Trowel will be accepted
by Herbert Pastor, Terry Key-
well, Rochelle Aisen and Renee
Goldstein. Mr. and Mrs. Morris
Lipshy will be hosts at a recep-
tion in honor of the Bar Mitzvah
of their son Stuart.
Saturday and Sunday morn-
ings, March 4 and 5, Purim
plays will be presented by the
Drama Group and the Stage
Club, directed by Roberta Sny-
der and Mrs. Albert Braver, re-
spectively.
On Sunday .morning, March 5,
the children of the kindergarten
and grades 1 and 2 will hold
their annual Purim masquerade
party. The masquerade of the
older boys and girls was held
Sunday morning, Feb. 26.

team will highlight the pro-

will hear the reading of the
Megillah. At lunch time, stu-
dents will have a five-course
meal at - Lachar's. Entertain-
ment following will include an
amateur hour and Purim vari-
ety show.
Fulfilling the command to
give to the pbor at Purim, all
classes in Beth Yehudah are
completing a fund-raising drive
for schools for immigrant chil-
dren in Israel.

Emphatic denial of the rum-
ored sale of Beth Tefilo Emanuel
Synagogue was issued this week
by Morris Dorn, vice president
of the congregatoin.

clared.

The congregation's Megillah
. reading was Thursday evening.
The Men's Club's Purim event
was Thursday evening. The
Sisterhood held its Purim party
Feb. 27. Mrs. Leo Drapkin was
chairman.
Last Sunday, Feb. 26, Bnai
David Religious School sessions
. were cancelled to allow for a
:Purim program in the syna-
gogue. The Megillah reading,
Purim songs, luncheon and a
. masquerade ball were held.

Students of the Peretz School,
in Windsor, will present a Purim
festival at 10:30 a.m. Sunday,
March 5, at the shule.
Purim plays and music are
planned.
That evening, adults and ad-
vanced students of the shule
will observe Purim with a pro-
gram of songs, recitations, and
a play, "The Trial of Purim."'
On Monday, March 6. Dr. Her-
man Frank, noted Jewish liter-
ary figure, will be guest speaker
at the Peretz School.
