Purim Shalach Monos Appeals
In Synagogues, March 2 and 3
Traditional Purim appeals will be made in Detroit
synagogues next Thursday evening and Friday morn-
ing, preceding the reading of the Book of Esther, in
behalf of the Jewish National Fund.
Irving W. Schlussel, president of the JNF Council,
announced on Monday that a group of representatives
of the local JNF have been enrolled to bring the JNF
message to congregants in Detroit's synagogues. The
list of synagogues and the speakers who will appear
there will be found elsewhere in this issue.
"This Purim, more than ever before, we hope that
Detroit Jews will be liberal with their contributions
to the JNF," Mr. Schlussel said. "The JNF not only
continued to redeem land to become the property of
the entire Jewish people and to establish the fund for
compensation to former Arab land-owners, but also to
speed the work of reafforestation and the supplying of
water to all settlements and particularly to the Negev.
In planning the traditional Shalach Monos gifts on
Purim, we urge all Detroit Jews to give liberally to the
great people's fund—the Jewish National Fund."
