Irving W. Schlussel, president
of the Jewish National Fund
Council of Detroit, has issued a
call to all rabbis and to presi-
dents of congregations to meet
at the JNF office, 11816 Dex-
ter, at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26,
to plan the traditional syna-
gogue Purim appeals.
Mr. Schlussel stated that the
JNF remains one of the ma-
jor causes for the upbuilding of
Israel and that support of this
fund represents backing for the
new settlers in the Jewish state.
"JNF is not only redeeming
land for the settlement of new-
comers but also is supervising
large afforestation schemes and

is arranging to bring water to
the farthest posts in the Ne-
gev," Mr. Schlussel said. "These
activities require increased help.
We call upon all Detroit Jews
to increase their Shalach Monos
for the JNF on Purim."
