informed campaign officers last
Sunday that an additional $50,-
000 has been transmitted to the
National Histadrut Emergency
Roll Call Conference in New
York City.
More than 40 per cent of De-
troit's current quota has been
achieved, with only one quarter
of last year's cards covered,
campaign treasurer Norm an
Ccittler announced. With help
of new contributors, current
campaign income is 10 per cent
above last year, he added.
Pinsker, Aid Society cele-
brated its most successful His-
tadrut evening with $3,400 in
pledges announced. Sam Rosen-
berg, Harry Laker, Dave Weiner,
Isadore Cohen and A. Shuster-
man volunteered to complete so-
licitation of all remaining mem-
bers to over subscribe the so-
ciety's $8,000 goal.
Branch 137 Adds Captains
Branch 137, Farband, with
close to $60,000 already report-
ed, helped by the initial reports
of John Isaacs, Nathan Linden
and Henry Strub, leads Labor

Dr. Kurland Talks
To Detroit LZOA
Dr.. Samuel Kurland, director
of education for the Labor
Zionist Organization of Amer-
ica, is speaking before Detroit
branches of the LZOA at meet-
ings Friday, Jan. 27 through
Sunday, Jan. 29.
Dr. Kurland was formerly on
the faculty of Boston Univer-
sity and director of the Labor
Palestine Information • Bureau.
He is a noted scholar in the
fields of Jewish history, litera-
ture and philosophy and is the
author. of "Biluim" and "Coop-
erative Palestine."
His schedule in Detroit is as
follows: Friday, Jan. 27; joint
meeting with Branches 4 and
6 at the home of Dr. and Mrs.
A. Sanders, 12342 Broadstreet.
Saturday, Jan. 28, meeting with
Branch 2 and -Sunday, Jan. 29
with Branch 7. On Saturday,
Jan. 28, there will also be a
luncheon meeting with the
Communal Workers division of
the LZOA.
Dr. Kurland previously ad-
dressed the chairmen and pro-
gram chairmen of LZOA on
Wednesday, Jan. 25, a n d
Branches 10 and 11 at a joint
meeting Thursday, Jan. 26.
Mondry, Mrs. Phillip Jaffe, Mo-
ritz Schubiner and J. M. Singer
were picked as additional team
captains.
Louis Levine, chairman of the
organization division, which has
$25,000 of its $100,000 quota
raised, announced that a special
breakfast meeting of key work-
ers will be held Sunday morn-
ing, Feb. 5, with Louis Siegel,
national secretary of the Far-
band, as speaker.

Branch 4, Labor Zionists, re-
ported close to $7,000 of its $10,-
000 goal. Branch. 2 pushed its
report up to the $5,000 mark
through the efforts of Bernard
Linderman, Joe Kahn, Max
Brose and Jack Glazer.
Hanita ' Club, through the
leadership of Mrs. L. Hoffmitz,
leads efforts of the Pioneer
Women groups.

Hy Sanderson, American
member of Kibbutz Kfar Blum,
will be guest speaker at the
campaign rally Thursday eve-
ning, Feb. 2, in the Labor Zion-
ist Institute, sponsored by the
English speaking branches of
LZOA.

Work To Be Featured
At Hashofar Concert

presented by 45 members of the

at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, March 5,
in the Scottish Rite Cathedral
of Masonic Temple, under the
