Sachar, pr es i- dent of the Uni- versity, will speak at a meet- ing at the Book Cadillac Hotel. Chairman o f the dinner meeting is Leo- nard Simons. Geo. Alpert , Dr. Sachar and Alpert are on a nation-wide tour in behalf of the newly-founded institution. Brandeis, which launched its second academic year this fall when more than 150 entering freshmen, from 22 states a n d Canada, joined last year's pilot class of 100, has doubled its stu- dent body and its faculty this year. The •movie "A Voice is Born," in which he was featured in his own life story, received the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences 1948 Award of Merit. He also appears on tele- vision and his recordings are among the more popular sellers. All' proceeds of this year's fund-raising event will be used for further redemption of land in Israel to become the inalien- able property of the Jewish people.
