Cashdans Honored by UHS Staff
On Their 50th Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs.: Joel Cashdan
were honored Dec. 20 by the
staff of the United Hebrew
Schools at t h e' UHS annual
Hanukah dinner, on the occa-
sion of their 50th wedding anni-
versary.
The elderly couple was man:-
vied at the start of the twentieth
century, Jan. 1, 1900 in Minsk,
Russia.
Members of the Cashdan
family, their friends, and UHS
staff members attended the din-
ner. Solomon Kasdan, a broth-
er of Joel Kashdan, acted as
chairman. Brief talks were de-
livered by Bernard Isaacs and
A 1 b e r t. Elazar, stressing Mr.
Cashdan's scholarship and long,
30 years' service to the schools.
Following the talks, Mr. and
Mrs. Cashdan were presented
with an artistic Hanukah men-
ora made in Israel at the Be-

Shimon Sandweiss and Norman
Ruttenberg. Israel Elpern acted
as entertainment chairman.

League will hold its annual do-
nor luncheon at the Masonic
Temple at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday,
Jan. 17.
Johnny King and Dave Zim-

nies. A Sheruth Donor Duchess
will be selected from the audi-
ence. She will be dressed with
clothing given by Detroit mer-
chants.

guest speaker at a 'luncheon
meeting of the Detroit Round
Table of Catholics, Jews and
Protestants, Monday, Jan. _16, at
the Detroit-Leland Hotel.
During the past year, Dr. Sea-
mans has been on loan to Gen-
eral Douglas McArthur's mili-
tary government, as education-
al consultant. At the luncheon,
he will speak on "Our Problem
in Japan Today."
