The NEWCOMERS CLUB of
the Center will hold a ROOSE-
VELT BIRTHDAY DANCE Sun-
day, Jan. 29, in the auditorium
-of the main Center. Featured
for dancing will be the music
of Dick Stein's orchestra. All
are welcome to attend. Part of
the proceeds will go to the
March of Dimes.

The CENTER VARSITY
SWIMMING TEAM will hold
their first home dual swimming
meet of the season Tuesday
evening, Jan. 17, when they meet
the Detroit Institute of Tech-
nology squad.

The next AAU Chappionship
swimming meet to be }conducted
at the Center pool will be held
Tuesday, .Jan. 31. Entries are
now open for Michigan State
championship events. Entry
blanks may be obtained from
Manny Ratner, Center swim-
ming coach, and must be filed
no later than Jan. 26.

John Gilbert's orchestra will
be featured at the mid-winter
frolic sponsored by the HOLLY-
WOOD TELCOVE CLUB Sunday
evening, Jan. 22, at the main
Center. According to program
chairman Miriam Slobin and
her co-chairman Robert Seff, a
"prize waltz" will be featured.

The 15th annual donor lunch-
eon of the LADIES AUXILIARY
OF KVUTZAH IVRITH will be
held Feb. 14 at Zack's. Mrs.
Abraham DeRoven is ticket
chairman and may be reached
at TO. 5-1150 for reservations.
Mrs. Simcha Winokur and Mrs.
Simcha Goldberg are co-chair-
men of the souvenir book. The
Kvutzah is donating $300 to-
ward establishment of a new
Hebrew library in honor of Mr.
and Mrs. Abraham Panush.

The Music Study Club of De-
troit will hold a membership tea
at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17,
in the Social Hall of the YWCA
on Montcalm and Witherell.
Leonard Leone director of the
Wayne University Theater, will
lecture on drama and present
his players in a one act play.
Pianist Rose Mash also will ap-
pear.
Mrs. Allen Braver is chairman
of the day.. Members and their
friends are welcome.

The Bnai Brith Man-of-the-
Year 1949 will be presented on
March 6, it was announced by
the awards committee of the
Ivan S. Bloch Lodge.
All Bnai Brith members in
good standing, outside of the
Ivan S. Bloch membership , are
eligible for this award. The com-
mittee stated that entries will
close on Jan. 21; and the results
will be announced on Feb. 1. .

Rabbi Stollman Heads
Mizrachi Delegation

Rabbi Isaac Stollman, presi-
dent of the Mizrachi Midwest
Region, will head Detroit's dele-
gation to the region's conference
to be held in Cleveland Jan. 13
to 15.
Other Detroit delegates will in-
clude Daniel Temchin, Irving
Schlussel, Philip Stollman, Zvi
Tomkevitz, the local Mizrachi
director, Isidore Sosnick, Aaron
Tilchin, Rev. Saul Chinitz, Louis
Rose and Abe Nussbaum.

VIENNA, (JTA) — Agreement
has been concluded between
"Hakoah" sports club here and
Maccabee athletic association of
Israel for the Vienna club's par-
ticipation in the forthcoming
Maccabee Games.

Annual obervance of HEBREW
MONTH will be marked by Jew-
ish organizations, synagogues
and centersi schools and youth
groups throughout the country
during March, 1950, it was an-
nounced by Samuel J. Borow-
sky, president of Histadrut Iv-
rith, Hebrew language and. cul-
ture association.

On Jan. 18 the WEDNESDAY
EVENING DISCUSSION GROUP
of the Jewish Center will pre-
sent Oliver LaGrone, Negro poet
and author of "Footfalls," who
will speak on "Negro Culture in
America." He will also recite
some of his poems.

"Trial and Error," the auto-
biography of Chaim Weizmann,
will be reviewed at the next
meetings of the CENTER
MOTHERS' CLUBS. The clubs
also plan to celebrate Tu b She-
vat by serving Palestinian fruits
and by dancing the Hora, which
will be led by Ruth Schulzinger,
supervisor of the Women's
Health Education Department of
the Center. '

The TWELFTH STREET CEN-
TER MOTHERS' CLUB will hold
an Oneg Shabbat Jan. 21. On
Mot-1day, Jan. 23, the Center
Mothers' Club will feature films
on Histadrut at 8:30 p.m. in
room 209 of the Center.

itt, children of members of the
Young Women's Study Club,
will provide a musical program
for the SELECT SOCIAL CLUB
at 8:30 p. m. Saturday, Jan. 14,
in the Ginsburg Lounge of the

University Area Women's Club,
will be held Saturday night, Jan.
