the guest speaker for the open-
ing Friday evening will be in a
position to give a message of

The second Friday night gath-
ering; Jan. 13, is dedicated to the
Sisterhood and a women's pro-
gram will be presented. Jan. 20,
will be dedicated to the religious
school.
The fourth Friday night, Jan.
27, will be dedicated to the
Men's Club.

ture of Zionist organizations in
America will be conducted by

rachi and Jewish National
Fund Council, and Rabbi Israel
I. Halpern,, who will moderate.
A guest cantor will 'sing Sab-
bath songs. The Sisterhood will
serve refreshments. The public
is welcome.
This weekend, Beth Abraham's
Sabbath services will be at 5 .
p.m. Friday and at 9:15 a.m. Sat-
urday; daily services are at 7:30
a.m. and 5 p.m.; Sunday morn-
ings at 8.
Cantors Welcome
Schulsingers' Return
The Cantor's Association of
Detroit announces the return of
Cantor and Mrs. Hyman Schul-
singer of •2635 Calvert from
Israel.
A reception is planned for the
near future , in their honor. Can-
tor and Mrs. Schulsinger will
give a report of their ten-week
trip.
Cantor Schulsinger is chair-
man of the musical committee
of the association and will par-
ticipate in the concert Jan. 31

Temchin, Mizrachi worker and
past president of Beth Yehudah.
Temchin served eight years as
president of Detroit Mizrachi
and four years as head of the
midwest region. For the past 12
years he has
been a member
of the national
executive.
Temchin was
one of nine
delegates, t h e
o n 1 y Mizrachi
candidate, elect-
ed to the his-
tory-making
American Jew-
ish Conference
of 1943.
Temchin
He began his active interest
in Yeshivath Beth Yehudah in
1'924; was a member of its board
of directors for 20 years, and
served as president in 1937. He
is now an honorary member of
the board. His son Max, a grad-
uate of Beth Yehudah, served as
its vice president last year, and
this year is a member of the
budget committee of the board
of. directors.

He is an active member and
former president of the Tur-
over Society and Bnai Jacob
Synagogue. He is a former trus-
tee of Cong. Beth Tefilo Eman-
uel.

Rabbi Fram to Review Book Council Citation
Old Year, Preview '50
For the past 25 years Rabbi
Leon Fram has made it his cus-
tom at the end of the calendar
year\to deliver two sermons re-
viewing the historic significance
of 'the old year and offering a
moral prospectus for the new
year.
"An Appraisal of the Year
1949" will be the subject of his
sermon at Temple Israel's Sab-
bath eve Service, Friday, Dec. 30,
in the lecture hall of the . Detroit
Institute of Arts.
At this ' service Gilbert Weis-
man will celebrate his Bar Mit-
zvah and the congregation will
be the guest-of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph B. Weisman at a recep-
tion in honor of their son.
"A Prospectus for the Second
Half of the Twentieth Century"
will be the subject of Rabbi
Fram's sermon Friday night,
Jan. 6. At this service Joseph
Jerome Greenberg, son of Mr.
and Mrs. William P. Greenberg,
will celebrate his Bar Mitzvah.
Mrs. Greenberg is presiderit of
