ing Dec. 27 for a 15-day trip to Havana, Kingston and Caracas.

Library of Congress has sent an
expedition to the Mt. Sinai area
to microfilm more than 500,000
pages of ancient manuscripts.

At Northwest School

Close to 200 men and women
have registered for the North-
west Hebrew Congregation's In-.
stitute of Adult Jewish Studies.
Six courses are being offered,
including three classes in He-
brew. Each Tuesday evening,
Rabbi Jacob Segal conducts two
alternate courses: "The Practic-
al Arts of Jewish Living," and
"The Bible Comes to Life."
The next session in this 20-
week series will be held Tues- .
day, Dec. 27. Rabbi Segal's lec-.
tuure will be devoted to "The
Sabbath—Day of Delight." Reg-
istration is still open. Non-mem-
bers are welcome.

Parents' Group Has
Hanukah Workshop

A unique program of family
Hanukah workshops was com-
pleted by 4,-le Jewish Parents
Institute of the Jewish Center,
in an effort to bring creative
Jewish living into the home.
Groups of 12 to 15 families
gathered in homes for Hanukah
programs at which. they made
Hanukah decorations and cere-
monial objects, discussed the
story of Hanukah and its mod-
ern significance, learned Hanu-
kah songs, heard Hanukah rec-
ords, ate latkes and played the
dreidel game.
Mrs. Arnold Kass and Mrs.
Bernard Handelman were in
charge of coordinating activi-
ties for the workshops. The Par-
ents' Institute is under the su-
pervision of Harry D. Katz, su-
pervisor of adult education at
the Center.
