MAN, campaign chairman, and MRS. ALEXANDER SANDERS,
active member of LZOA Branch No. ,6 watch GOVERNOR
WILLIAMS sign a statement endorsing tike efforts of the Israel
Histadrut and wishing the Detroit campaign success.

Gov. G. Mennen Williams en-
dorsed the Detroit Histadrut
Campaign with the following
statement:
"As Governor of the State of
Michigan, I deem it a privilege
to send my warmest greetings
to the officers of the Israel His-
tadrut Campaign in the city of
Detroit.
"The work of the Histadrut,
the great pioneering movement
of the new State of Israel, has
been familiar to me for a long
time. The achievements of the
Histadrut must be a source of
pride and inspiration to the
people of the Jewish State and
to those in our own state who
have worked so devotedly for
the establishment of a JeWish
National Home in Palestine.
"As an American, I am keenly
aware of the tremendous diffi-
culties facing the Israelis and
the newcomers to the shores of
Israel. I am also aware of the
vital contribution the Histadrut
must make immediately to help
integrate the immigrants into
the life of Israel as productive
and creative citizens.
"All who support the Histadrut
are making it possible for those
coming to Israel from the DP
camps and MosleM Lands to
receive vocational training, jobs,
much needed health services and
a grounding in a new culture
now being created by the Is-
raelis. Those are things without
which the newcomer cannot be-
come a normal human being,
free from fear and the haunting
memories of the past.
"The Israel Histadrut Cam-
paign is our way—the American
way—of helping to build a dem-
ocratic nation in the Middle
East based upon our precepts of
freedom which we hold so dear.
"I wish you success in your
laudable undertaking.
"Sincerely,"
G. Mennen Williams
Governor
