Publisher Seeking
Investors for New
Tourist Industry

Yehuda Mozes of Tel Aviv,
publisher of the Hebrew after-
noon daily newspaper Yediot-
Achronot (Late News) in the
major city in Israel, was in De-
troit last week to mobilize sup-
port for his $1,000,000 project
for the advancement of tourism
in the Jewish state. He plans to
return here in a few days to se-
cure support for his project and
can be reached at the Barium
Hotel. In New York he is at the
Commodore Hotel.
Mozes is acting on behalf
of the National Land Invest-
ment Co. He stated that ar-
rangements are being made to
develop resorts near Jerusalem
and to advance the tourist in-
dustry througa proper guides,
the building of hotels and im-
provement of restaurant service.
The value of investments in
Israel through this and other
projects was outlined by Mr.
Mozes. Advantages offered to in-
vestors are especially contained
in the following two concessions
by the Israel government:
1. Americans who make in-
vestments in Israel will be en-
titled to withdraw yearly an
amount in dollars equivalent to
a maximum of 10 per cent of
investments in Israel in interest
and amortization.
2. Investors will be permitted
to retain bank accounts in the
currency of the lands of their
origin for five years.

CARE's Israel Kosher FoOd Parcel
Among Agency's 15 Specialties

Fifteen specialty food pack-
ages, including a Kosher food
package for Jews in European
countries and adult and baby-
food parcels for Israel, are be-
ing packed and shipped regu-
larly by CARE, Paul Comly
French, director of the non-
profit service, declared on his
visit to Detroit last week.
Reporting on his recently con-
cluded tour of Europe, French
stated that United States re-
covery funds don't "get down
to the little people." To succor
this group, he said, it is neces-
sary to continue the voluntary
shipment of food and clothing
now facilitated by CARE:

Chajes-BistritzkyRecital
Features Three Sonatas

Three sonatas will be presented
by Julius Chajes, pianist, and
Zinovi Bistritzky, violinist, Mon-
day evening, Dec. 12, at the De-
troit Institute of Arts.
In addition- to directing music
at the Jewish Community Cen-
ter, Chajes is Jewish co-chair-
man of the Detroit Round Table
of Catholics, Jews and Protest-
ants, founder of Hashofar, So-
ciety for Advancement of Jewish
Music; director of the Halevy
Singing Society and the Cleve-
land Jewish Singing Society.
Bistritzky has been connected
with the Detroit Symphony Or-
chestra for the past 20 years
and was concertmaster last
summer.
The program will include Moz-
art's Sonata in D - Major,
Brahms' Sonata in D-Minor and
Chajes' Sonata in A-Minor.

A New Year's Eve party will
be given by the PINSKER PRO-
GRESSIVE AID SOCIETY at the
Jewish Cultural Center. A full-
course dinner will be followed by
music and dancing.

the agency is a book program,
which supplies n e w technical
and scientific books to European
Universities whose libraries were
lost or destroyed in the last
decade. This project is con-
ducted with the cooperation of
UNESCO, the Library of Con-
gress, and other educational au-
thorities.
CARE's Israel program already
has delivered 5,000 gift pack-
ages, according to Emanuel
Borenstein, chief of the CARE
Mission to Israel. French pointed
out that CARE also serves
Christians and Arabs residing in
the Jewish state. Only Kosher
packages are delivered there, he
said, regardless of the religious
inclinations of the recipient.
To help solve problems of the
Arab refugees, the agency re-
cently has concluded a contract
with Transjordan, and is nego-
tiating with Syria and Lebanon
for similar arrangements.
French said that many fam-
ilies who receive CARE packages
express their appreciation by
sending some type of material
remuneration — art objects or
even postage stamps, to the
CARE office, to be sold here and
proceeds used to send additional
food parcels to other needy fam-
ilies.
