pointed the following committee

and Gabe Glantz; tickets, Her-
bert Lenter; arrangements, Her-
man Burton and Fred Rapoport;

-be A.D.L. night for the Lodge,

ments will follow.
"Sword in the Desert," sen-
sational film. depicting the
struggle of Israel's underground,
currently being shown at the
Adams, is the most realistic de-
scription of what happened prior
to the rebirth of the Jewish
scene yet to be shown on the
screen.
The first picture on Israel to
be made in Hollywood, "Sword in
the Desert" shows how the Jew-
ish underground brought immi-
grants into Israel in defiance of
the brutal British colonial pol-
icy of keeping the doors to Pal-
estine shut for the survivors
from Nazism.
An effective plot for the ,first
time makes a film dealing with
Israel stand out as a real attrac-
tion to movie patrons of all
faiths. The film is distinguished
by masterful acting. Marta
Toren; as "Sabra," the under-
ground broadcaster on the Kol
Israel radio, is magnificent.
The superb acting of Dana An-
drews, as the American captain
who brought the ship with il-
legals to Palestine's shores, his
reactions to the efforts of the
Jews in their struggle with the
British, his eventual refusal. to
turn • informer when he and
leaders of the Jewish under-
ground were arrested, enrich the
film.
