First Israel _Millionaire in Negev

JTS SChedules Israel
Art, Sculpture Exhibit

TEL AVIV — Nurith Bogra-
chow, daughter of Dr. and Mrs.
Nahum Bograchow (he is the
head of the 'pediatrics depart-
ment of Tel Aviv's Hadassah
Hospital) told me about a class-
mate of hers, the son of one of
the wealthiest families in Israel.
The boy was offered many op-
portunities by his parents—to
study in the United States or in
Switzerland or in France. He
refused, and instead joined a
kibutz in the Negev.
"I am the first Israel million-
aire in the Negev," he told
Miss Bograchow. Later he re-
ported to her: "A wealthy

an exhibit of Israel art and
sculpture, at its Jewish Museum,
1109 Fifth Ave., New York, to be
presented by the American Fund
for Israel Institutions, begin-
ning Nov. 17.
Eliahu Elath, Israel Ambas-
sador to the United States, will
open the exhibit, which includes
the work of over 45 Israel paint-
ers and sculptors, in the media
of oil, water color, marble and
wood. The art was selected by
J. B. Neumann, director of the
New Art Circle, who was sent
to Israel for that purpose by
the American Fund. The Ameri-
can Fund supports the three art
museums of Israel, the Tel Aviv
Museum, the Jewish National
Museum Bezalel in Jerusalem,

Hebrew U. Brochure
On Human Relations

The belief that parents must
not help shape the beliefs and
focus their children's goals is
described as a "tragic misunder-
standing" by Dr. Sol W. Gins-
burg, New York psychiatrist, in
the brochure, "Concerning Re-
ligious Values—A Psychiatrist's
Viewpoint," issued by the Joshua
Loth Liebman Department of
Human Relations of Hebrew
Union College.
The third publication issued in
the department's series dealing
with psychiatry and religion, this
study notes that religious values
are beSt acquired early in life
and provide one way, to give
faith a deep and lasting rele-
vance.
Religious values have great
meaning and usefulness over
and beyond freedom from anx-

group activity, he writes, pro-
vides a second scope of useful-
ness for religious values.

father is Prof. Moshe Weizmann
of the chemistry department of
the Hebrew University and she
therefore is a niece of President

First Jewish Paper
In Turkish Language

ISTANBUL, (WJA)—"LaBoz de

Turkiye", a Jewish weekly in the
Ladino language, which ceased
publication some weeks ago after
the death of its editor, Albert
Cohen, has been replaced by a
new weekly, "Turkiyenin Sessi,"
the first Jewish publication to
appear in the Turkish language.
It will be edited by Sam Cohen,
son of the editor of "La Boz de
Turkiye".
The first issue, which carries
an editorial on the tragic plight
of the Jews of Iraq and pays
tribute to the efforts of the
World Jewish Congress on their
behalf, explains that Turkish
has been chosen as the language
of publication to make the paper
intelligible to the Jewish youth
of Turkey, of whom only few
understand Ladino.
